11TH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE ADVANCES TO NE10 SEMIFINALS WITH 20-10 WIN OVER SOUTHERN NEW HAMPSHIRE

Syracuse, N.Y. – Sophomore attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) registered six points to lead the 11th-ranked and third-seeded Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 20-10 victory over sixth-seeded Southern New Hampshire University in the quarterfinals of the Northeast-10 Conference Championships on Wednesday afternoon at Ted Grant Field.

With the victory, the Dolphins advance to the NE10 semifinals for the seventh straight year and will take on fifth-ranked and second-seeded Adelphi University on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. at Bentley University in Waltham, Massachusetts.

"Today was a total team effort," said head coach Liz Beville. "We are starting to click at the right time and I think that was shown with six different players recording at least four points. Our defense did a great job causing turnovers and Madison made three big stops in cage when she entered the game. We look forward to more playoff games this weekend!"

Le Moyne (14-4) jumped out to a 3-0 lead through the opening 4:18 of the game. Hutchings started the scoring just 38 seconds into the contest off a pass from senior midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee). Only 47 seconds later, Nojaim finished off a pass from junior attacker Kelly Thomas (Minoa, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) for her 28th goal of the season. Redshirt junior midfielder Katelyn Karleski (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) followed with her 16th goal of the campaign with 10:42 remaining in the half.

Angelina Graziano got the Penmen on the scoreboard at the 6:14 mark by converting a free-position shot.

The Dolphins scored five times over the final 5:05 of the quarter to take an 8-1 lead. Sophomore midfielder Reilly Geer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) scored twice in a span of 43 seconds to put the Dolphins in front 5-1. Junior attacker Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) then netted her 28th goal of the year with 1:36 to go. Hutchings finished off a feed from Karleski with just 21 seconds left and then found the back of the net with less than one second remaining off a dish from sophomore midfielder Rhonee Shea Pal (Canastota, N.Y./Bishop Grimes).

Southern New Hampshire scored four times in the opening 6:08 of the second quarter. Following a card on the Dolphins, Courtney Cronin scored in the extra-player situation off a feed from Graziano with 13:31 left. Just over three minutes later, Shelby Cole scored her 45th goal of the season. Erin Gorton followed with her 27th goal of the year with 9:03 remaining. Just 11 seconds later, Cole scored off a feed from Cronin to get the Penmen within three.

Le Moyne answered with the final five goals of the half. Senior attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) started the run at the 7:53 mark by finishing off a pass from Nojaim in an extra-player situation for her 55th goal of the season. Hutchings got the Dolphins into double digits with 6:44 remaining. Karleski scored her second goal of the game with 3:17 left in the half. Meneilly then scored off a dish from Addonizio with 1:20 to go and then capped the half's scoring with 23 seconds left for a 13-5 lead at halftime.

Just 49 seconds later, she fed Cole for her 47th goal of the year to force a Le Moyne goalkeeper change. Skylar Renaud made it 13-8 with a free-position goal with 10:53 remaining.

Following two overlapping cards on the Dolphins, Geer scored in the player-down situation off a pass from Hutchings at the 1:52 mark just after getting out of the box. Meneilly tallied her fourth goal of the campaign with 37 seconds left off a feed from Geer. Addonizio finished off the scoring in the quarter with just four seconds left off a free-position shot.

Le Moyne extended its lead to a game-high 12 with the first two goals of the fourth quarter. Karleski scored at the 10:37 mark and then Hutchings finished off a feed from Addonizio with 7:25 to play.
