WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO #20 COLORADO

Boulder, Colo. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team fell to #20 University of Colorado on Wednesday at the CU Events Center.

The Buffaloes jumped out to a 26-6 after 10 minutes and claimed a 97-38 victory.

Le Moyne fifth-year guard Lytoya Baker (Rochester, N.Y./Bishop Kearney) recorded a team-high 18 points, while junior guard Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) tied her career-high with seven rebounds. Graduate guard Sydney Lusher (Oneida, N.Y./Oneida) added five points, three rebounds and two assists, and redshirt-junior forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) contributed two blocks and three boards.

Frida Forman and Maddie Nolan both recorded a team-high 15 points for the Buffaloes. Nolan shot 5-7 from three-point range, and Forman went 3-5 from long distance. Aaronette Vonleh tallied a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds for Colorado, while Jaylyn Sherrod registered a game-high eight assists.

The Buffs pulled down 19 offensive rebounds, compared to eight for Le Moyne.

Colorado outscored the Dolphins 26-15 during the second period, then they extended their lead in the third quarter.

Colorado, which defeated #1 LSU in its season opener on Monday, improves to 2-0, while the Dolphins drop to 0-2.

Le Moyne will play its home opener on Saturday against Stony Brook.

Quotes from Le Moyne head coach Mary Grimes:

"There was a lot of things that we wanted to improve on from our last game at Colorado State, one of them was our spacing and I thought we got better at that today. I thought we executed a lot better than we did the other day, and we got open shots, which we weren't getting against Colorado State. So, we were able to adjust in the one day in between. Looking ahead to Stony Brook, we have to figure some things out defensively and then keep improving on offense, and we've got to make shots."

"It's just a great experience for our players to be in this environment… Regardless of the score and the outcome, I told them to leave it out on he floor and I think they did."

"Lytoya, she's amazing. She played with no fear today. She got to the basket, she moved the ball. We talked to her about moving the ball after last game and her shots came when she moved the ball. Just super proud of her."

On Florvil's performance: "That's what you're going to get with Emily. She's going to fight, she played with no fear as well. She was taking it to the basket and playing with all her heart… She's grown so much in the past two years it's just unbelievable. I was watching a game from two years ago when we played Ashland, kind of the same scenario, we had a mountain to climb and she just played her heart out. So, I'm just really impressed and really proud of her for the work she's done on her own and for the work she's done for our team."
