Quotes from Le Moyne head coach
Mary Grimes:
"I think we're still figuring it out [defensively]. We were able to change (our defense) up a couple different ways with both of our zones and then man-to-man mixed in there. What I see on the stats sheet that jumps right out at me is we allowed seven made threes in the first half, and they only got two in the second half. I mean, they got their average of nine [made threes], but at least we keyed in on the threes a lot better in the second half."
"Between Lytoya and Sierra (The Richmond defense applied a lot of pressure). I thought
Kaia Goode did a great job of creating in the first half, and then she went down and that creativity went away but we have other weapons, they just need to play with confidence and I know it's tough right now but we'll get (our confidence) back, we've got a lot more season left to play."
On
Sierra Linnin taking a career-high 17 shots: "That's why I keep imploring her [to shoot], because when she misses they all fall in the paint, we can't ask for anything better than that. You saw Emily get in there [grabbing offensive rebounds] you saw Lytoya get in there and get some second-chance opportunities. But yeah, she's taken it upon herself since the beginning of the season, I feel like she's a player possessed right now just playing so competitive and playing so hard, it's great to see."
On the tough road stretch: "It's a tough schedule to have to put together in May and June and what you get is all these good teams because nobody wants to play them. But we really just try to stay present and take it one game at a time, because it can be daunting if you look at the whole thing… I think if we didn't have as many people as we had coming back, our senior led team and the veterans we have, then I (wouldn't have created such a difficult non-conference schedule) but I think it's just going to help them grow. I mean our sophomore class was unbelievable last year and now they're getting even more experience, so, we're throwing them into the fire and building a team here."
