SEVENTH-RANKED WOMEN’S LACROSSE GRINDS OUT 13-11 VICTORY OVER 19TH-RANKED SAINT ANSELM

Manchester, N.H. – Graduate student attacker Jessica Meneilly (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) scored five goals to lead the seventh-ranked Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 13-11 victory over 19th-ranked Saint Anselm College on Wednesday afternoon in Northeast-10 Conference action at Grappone Stadium. The game was part of the conference-wide Morgan's Message Day in support of the organization which advocates for the mental health of student-athletes.

"This game was a hard-fought win for the 'Phins," said head coach Liz Beville. "While we struggled to win draws, our defense made some big stops and we had some big ride plays that we were able to convert into goals. Looking forward to another battle on Saturday."

Le Moyne got the scoring started at the 12:28 mark as graduate student attacker Sara Goodwin (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) scored her 36th goal of the season.

The Hawks answered back 55 seconds later as Taylor Cobain tallied a free-position goal.

The Dolphins regained the lead with 10:05 left as Meneilly finished off a feed from junior attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) in an extra-player situation.

Saint Anselm countered with back-to-back goals to take the lead. Alison Ferullo evened the score with 7:50 remaining with a free-position goal. Lexi Palmisano put the Hawks in front with 3:05 to go in the quarter.

Le Moyne knotted the score with 19 seconds left as senior attacker Gemma Addonizio (Manlius, N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) finished off a feed from Goodwin.

The Dolphins scored the first three goals of the second quarter to take the lead for good. Meneilly made it 4-3 just over two minutes into the period after collecting a pass from Goodwin. She scored again just under two minutes later off a free-position shot. Graduate student midfielder Katelyn Karleski (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill/Onondaga C.C.) converted a free-position shot of her own with 9:12 left for a 6-3 advantage.

The teams alternated the final four goals of the half. Isabella Stuzynski pulled the Hawks within two with 4:25 left off a pass from Jess Sullivan. Meneilly answered back 78 seconds later with her 41st goal of the season. With the goal, Meneilly passed Gold Wave Hall of Fame member Brittany Brigandi '12 and Nicole Delany '20 for third on the program's career goals list with her 183rd. Ferullo made it 7-5 34 seconds later after taking a pass from Palmisano. Meneilly completed the scoring in the half with seven seconds left off a free-position shot in an extra-player situation.

Le Moyne scored the first two goals of the third quarter to take its largest lead of the game. Junior midfielder Reilly Geer (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) converted a free-position shot in an extra-player situation at the 10:41 mark for her eighth marker of the season. Sophomore attacker Grace Detor (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) netted her 13th goal of the campaign at the 5:58 after receiving a pass from Addonizio.

Saint Anselm scored the last two goals of the quarter to get back within three. Palmisano converted a free-position shot with 3:06 left and then Sullivan scored 51 seconds later.

Goodwin started the scoring in the fourth quarter at the 11:45 mark during an extra-player situation for an 11-7 lead.

Saint Anselm cut its deficit in half with the next two goals. Palmisano scored 49 seconds after Goodwin and then Sullivan recorded a goal with 9:37 remaining.

Karleski answered back 51 seconds later after collecting a feed from graduate student midfielder Adrianna Nojaim (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee).

The Hawks followed with back-to-back goals to close within one. Sullivan made it a two-goal game with 6:52 left on a free-position shot. Palmisano then scored her 33rd goal of the season just 27 seconds later to make it 12-11 and force a Le Moyne timeout.

Following a turnover by each team, Goodwin completed the scoring in the game with her 38th tally of the year with 3:54 remaining.

Each team committed two turnovers over the remainder of the game.

Senior goalkeeper Paige Crandall (Adams, N.Y./South Jefferson) registered nine saves in earning her ninth win of the season. Elizabeth Driscoll turned away seven shots in the loss for the Hawks.

Le Moyne (10-2, 6-1 NE10) returns home to take on ninth-ranked Adelphi University on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. In conjunction with the game, the Athletic Department will celebrate the 30th season of the women's lacrosse program.
