WOMEN'S BASKETBALL DEFEATS SUNY GENESEO IN EXHIBITION

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team recorded a 55-48 win over SUNY Geneseo on Monday in an exhibition contest at Ted Grant Court.

Graduate guard Megan Bodziony (Wakefield, RI/St. Andrew's School/Fordham/Bryant) led Le Moyne in scoring with 11 points on 4-5 from the field and 2-2 from the line, while graduate forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) and senior guard Emily Florvil (Brooklyn, N.Y./Nazareth) provided nine points, six rebounds and four steals each, and senior guard Mia Yanogacio (Somerset, N.J./Rutgers Prep/Delaware) added eight points.

Freshman guard Eli Clark (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) dished out a game-high four assists, while sophomore guard Zhara Adeyemi (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore) pulled down four rebounds with six points.

Le Moyne shot 7-13 from the field and made three of their four total three-pointers in the fourth quarter as they outscored the Knights 23-12 during the final 10 minutes.

"We're fortunate enough that we can come at teams in waves a little bit right now," said Le Moyne head coach Nick DiPillo following his first game with the Dolphins. "I think that's partially because we do have a lot of talent and I think another part of that is we're still trying to figure out what combinations play best with who. We didn't necessarily put our best foot forward offensively, although I thought we did get some good shots that I do like for us… fortunately our players play hard, they play together, their mindset, and their hearts are in the right place in everything they do so I'm excited that we got something on film that we can sit down and show them and grow from," DiPillo added.

Kristin Suydam tallied a double-double for SUNY Geneseo with 12 points and 10 rebounds, while Audrey Hintz and Mackenzie Reigle each added 11 points.

Le Moyne forced the Knights into 26 turnovers, and tallied 34 points in the paint.

Reigle scored seven of her points in the opening quarter as Geneseo established a 15-13 lead at the end of the first period.

Roberts scored the first two baskets of the second period to put Le Moyne in front, then Bodziony scored back-to-back layups to make it 21-17 in favor of the Dolphins.

Kiley Snow cut Geneseo's deficit to 25-24 with a fastbreak layup at the 1:42 mark of the second quarter, then Le Moyne sophomore forward Sydney Postell (Churchville, N.Y./Churchville-Chili) scored a layup with just under a minute remaining to give Le Moyne a 27-24 lead at halftime.

Geneseo then outscored Le Moyne 12-5 in the third quarter to take a four-point lead into the final period.

A three-pointer from Bodziony with 8:26 left in the fourth tied the game at 37-37, then a layup from Bodziony at the 7:23 mark put Le Moyne back in front.

A jumper from Hintz during the next possession once again tied the game, but Florvil put Le Moyne ahead for good with a layup at the 4:59 mark.

Back-to-back three-pointers from Roberts and Yanogacio at the 4:12 and 3:29 marks extended Le Moyne's advantage to 49-42. Yanogacio and sophomore guard Jessica Wangolo (Ottawa, Ontatio/Capital Courts Academy/Buffalo) each made two free throws in the final minute to close out the win.

The Le Moyne women's basketball team will begin the regular season on November 4 at Stanford. They will then play at Stony Brook on November 7, then will play their home opener on November 10 against Rhode Island.
