Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team will host Northeast Conference rival Stonehill College this coming Friday, Oct. 11 at 6:00 P.M. and Saturday, Oct. 12 at 1:00 P.M.
Dolphins' Season:
Le Moyne meets Stonehill College after dropping their opening slate of matches against FDU last weekend. The Dolphins took the first set in game one, 25-20 but fell in the final three sets; 21-25, 22-25, 15-25. In game two on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Knights swept Le Moyne; 25-22, 25-20, 25-19 in three sets. Le Moyne now sits at 1-13 overall and 0-2 in conference play as they continue to look to pick up their first NEC win of the season.Â
Offensively for the Dolphins, freshman outside hitter Jordyn Hamlin (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) leads the squad with 116.5 points and 102 kills while sophomore opposite hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) follows closely behind with 111.0 points and 101 kills through 13 games played. Junior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) leads with 241 assists with freshman setter Skylar Jehlen (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) also sitting with 157 for Le Moyne. Defensively, freshman libero/DS Brooke Menke (St. Louis, M.O. / Visitation Academy) has a team-high 126 digs while junior middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) leads with 23 blocks on the season.
A Look at the Skyhawks:
Stonehill College has worked to a 5-9 record overall but sit at 1-1 in conference play after splitting their series against Mercyhurst University last weekend. The Skyhawks took the Lakers to the full five sets on Friday, Oct. 4 with set scores of 25-16, 17-25, 23-25, 25-21, 16-14. The following day, Mercyhurst came out on top in four sets; 27-25, 15-25, 25-16, 25-17.
On offense, Mia Berardino leads with 121 kills and 137.5 points while Emma Graves has put up another 109 kills and 132.0 points for the Skyhawks. Amaya Parnell (258) and Maddie Schamaun (220) lead in assists with Sarah Frager recording the team-high in digs with 113. Graves and Abby Farrell lead in blocks with 36.0 and 35.0, respectively.
What's Next:
Le Moyne will travel to Chicago State University for their first road conference games on Friday-Saturday, Oct. 18-19.
