Erie, P.A. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team closed out the 2024 season with a road match against conference opponent Mercyhurst University on Saturday afternoon. The Lakers took down the Dolphins in three sets; 29-27, 25-21, 25-21, as Le Moyne finished their second season in Division-I 4-22 overall while going 3-11 in NEC action. The records mark a three-match improvement overall and two-match improvement in conference play from last season.
For Le Moyne, freshman outside hitter Jordyn Hamlin (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) recorded the team-high in kills with seven while four other Dolphins tallied five apiece. Junior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) led Le Moyne with 13 assists, with freshman setter Skylar Jehlen (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) adding another 12. Freshman middle hitter Anaya Rawlinson (Whitby, O.N. / Sinclair Secondary School) registered a team-high four service aces against the Lakers. Defensively, sophomore libero/DS Haley Buescher (Toledo, O.H. / St. Ursula Academy) put up the high in digs with 13 while junior middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) led the squad with five block solos. Rawlinson and freshman outside hitter Denali Louden (Murrieta, C.A. / Murrieta Mesa) added another two block solos each in the season finale.
For Mercyhurst, Andrea Zaric led with 15 kills while adding four digs and one block on defense. Alia Mastromatteo and Abby Miller were first and second on the squad in both assists (19, 18) and service aces (two each). On defense, Paige Miller tallied 19 digs while two other Lakers finished in the double-digits, as well. Ersa Akcay rounded out the defense with a team-high three block solos in the win.
