BOSTON RALLIES IN FOURTH FOR 60-55 WIN OVER WOMEN'S BASKETBALL

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Boston University Terriers erased a 13-point second-half deficit to claim a 60-55 win over the Le Moyne women's basketball team on Thursday evening at Ted Grant Court.

Graduate forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) led Le Moyne with a season-high and Division I career-high 23 points on 7-for-12 shooting from the field, including 5-for-7 from three-point range. Roberts' five threes ties her career high that she set in the season opener at Stanford.

Three first-quarter threes from Roberts helped the Dolphins establish a 28-23 advantage at halftime, then Le Moyne extended its lead to 44-36 after three quarters, but Boston outscored the Dolphins 24-11 during the final 10 minutes to escape Syracuse with a non-conference victory and improve their record to 4-3.

BU freshman forward Allison Schwertner tallied eight of her team-high 18 points in the fourth quarter, during which the Terriers shot 9-for-16 from the field as a team. Schwertner also produced seven rebounds and four steals and shot 9-for-16 from the field during the contest.

Senior guard Alex Giannaros and sophomore guard Audrey Ericksen also scored in double figures for Boston with 13 and 12 points, respectively, while sophomore guard Aoibhe Gormley dished out a game-high six assists and came away with four steals.

Le Moyne graduate guard Megan Bodziony (Wakefield, R.I./St. Andrew's School/Fordham/Bryant) tallied eight points with a game-high and season-high-tying eight rebounds for the Dolphins, and senior guard Mia Yanogacio (Somerset, N.J./Rutgers Prep/Delaware) added seven points and three assists.

Roberts gave the Dolphins their first lead of the game at the 7:51 mark in the first when she received a pass from Yanogacio near the top of the key and rattled home a three-pointer.

Back-to-back fastbreak layups from Schwertner at the 2:45 and 2:18 marks gave the Terriers a 10-7 advantage. Roberts tied the game with just under a minute left in the first when she received a pass from freshman guard Eli Clark (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) and drained a contested three from the right wing. Roberts' third and final triple of the quarter came off another pass from Yanogacio with 18 seconds remaining in the period and gave the Dolphins a 13-10 advantage after 10 minutes of action.

Sophomore forward Zhara Adeyemi (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore) scored Le Moyne's first four points of the second quarter, then junior guard Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) and Clark each knocked down a three to tie the game at 23-23 with 4:44 left in the half.

Le Moyne held the Terriers scoreless for the final five minutes of the second quarter, and Bodziony and sophomore guard Jessica Wangolo (Ottawa, Ontario/Capital Courts Academy/Buffalo) combined for five points in the final 2:09 to give the Dolphins the lead at the intermission.

Roberts knocked down her fourth three of the game during Le Moyne's first possession of the third quarter after receiving a kickout pass from senior forward Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford).

Layups from BU's Audrey Ericksen and Schwertner sandwiched a Yanogacio three at the 7:45 mark of the third quarter, then Roberts' fifth and final three pointer of the game with 6:26 left in the penultimate frame gave the Dolphins a 37-27 lead.

With 5:13 left in the third, Roberts received a pass at the top of the key from Linnin, drove towards the right block, finished a layup through contact, drew a foul and completed the old-fashioned three-point play at the line to make it 40-27 in favor of Le Moyne.

Bella McLaughlin converted two free throws for BU at the 4:53 mark, then Bodziony dribbled towards the left elbow and swished a jumper during Le Moyne's next possession to extend the lead back to 13.

Boston went on a quick 5-0 spurt with a layup from Schwertner and a three from Giannaros to cut the deficit back to single digits.

Williams converted a layup for Le Moyne with 1:13 left in the third, then Giannaros scored the final basket of the period with 15 seconds remaining to trim her team's deficit to 44-36 heading into the fourth.

BU scored the first five points of the fourth to make it a one-possession game at the 8:48 mark, but Bodziony responded for Le Moyne at the other end by slicing through the defense and finishing a right-handed layup at the rim.

Boston took its first lead of the second half with 3:26 remaining following a three-pointer from Giannaros, and a free-throw from freshman guard Hildur Gunnsteinsdóttir at the 2:35 mark gave the visitors a 53-50 lead.

With just under two minutes remaining, Wangolo brough the ball up the court and delivered an entry pass to Roberts near the right block. Roberts gave her defender a pump fake, then converted a layup, drew the and-one, and sank the additional free throw to tie the game at 53-53.

Schwertner put the Terriers back in front with a running layup at the other end with 1:34 left on the clock.

During the ensuing Le Moyne possession, Yanogacio got away from her defender on the left wing and knocked down a mid range jumper to bring the score to 55-55.

Giannaros put the Terriers in front for good with a long two-pointer with 54 seconds left in the game. BU held the Dolphins scoreless during the final minute converted three free throws to close out the win.

Le Moyne (0-8, 0-0 NEC) will return to action on Saturday when they host UMass Lowell for a 12:00 p.m. game at Ted Grant Court.
