SAINT FRANCIS TAKES SERIES 3-0 OVER SOFTBALL

Loretto, Pa. – The Le Moyne College softball team finished their series at Saint Francis University 0-3 with a final score of 0-8 on Sunday afternoon.
 
Junior right fielder Alyssa Dybacz (Baldwinsville, N.Y. / Charles W. Baker) started the game by hitting a single into center. First baseman Mckenzie Bergdoll (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro) followed by singling into right and Dybacz advanced to second. Sophomore designated player Audrey Benderski (Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) then reached on a fielder's choice to the pitcher, Bergdoll would advance to second on this play, but Dybacz is tagged at third. Benderski and Bergdoll are both left on base entering the bottom of the first. The Red Flash came out strong by Kaylie Walters singling to third then advancing to second off a ground out duirng the next at-bat. Oliva Ulam then hit a double into left center sending Walters home. Ulam advanced to third off a fly out, then made it home off a single from Lexi Hernandez. The score was 0-2 heading into the second.
 
No runs were made by either team but the Dolphins started off the third inning by graduate left fielder Jillian Dunn (Fiskdale, Mass. / Tantasqua Regional) being walked. Dybacz was then also walked advancing Dunn to second. Dunn then advanced to third and Dybacz advanced to second off a sacrifice bunt from junior second baseman Dominique Rinaldi (Sayville, NY/Sayville). Dybacz and Dunn would then be left on base after a strike out.
 
In the top of the fourth with two outs on the board, freshman left-fielder Sydney Nesci (Cicero, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) hit a single to left center. Redshirt junior Brooke Nicolaos (Liverpool, N.Y. / Cicero-North Syracuse) followed by hitting a single through the right side while Nesci advanced to second, but both would be left on base entering the bottom of the fourth. The Red Flash added three runs to the board starting off by a double from Lauren Aubry. Ashley Orischak then replicated Aubry's double which Aubry would then advance to third on. Walters then grounded out to shortstop while Aubry scored and Orischak advanced to third. Ashley Wruble then singled to center helping Orischak reach home. Ulam then sent Wruble home off a double to center which would be the last run for the inning with a score of 0-5.
 
In the sixth and final inning, no hits or runs were made from the Dolphins but the Flash added three more runs. Aliyah Garroway started off the momentum by hitting a single to second. Madelyn Wilson then reached on a fielding error by third base which Garroway advanced to second and then also advanced to third on. Aubry followed by hitting a single to center bringing Garroway home and helping Wilson advance to third. Another run was in the works starting off by Orischak hitting a single and Aubry advancing to second. Orischak then advanced to second off a wild pitch which Aubry advanced to third and Wilson scored on. To close out the game, Wruble grounded out to first which helped advance Orischak to third and Aubry to score. The final score was 0-8 with Saint Francis winning the series.  
 
The Dolphin's will continue their conference play at Merrimack College with a series starting on Saturday, March 23rd with a doubleheader at 12pm and 2pm. The Dolphins will then compete again on Sunday, March 24th at 12pm. All three games will be held at Martone-Mejail Field – North Andover, Mass.
