Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College softball team (14-26, 5-9 NEC) competed against Wagner (8-21- 3-11 NEC) for a rubber match on Sunday afternoon. The Dolphins won 4-2 over the Seahawks to clinch the series.
"Senior day is always bittersweet" said head coach
Tracey Roman. "Navigating the emotions of celebrating the veterans of your program while remaining focused on game execution is a delicate balance. I thought Mick did a tremendous job with this opportunity despite the defensive miscues that led to runs scoring. She does a really good job creating ground balls for our defense to handle. She got through their lineup twice and Laura came in to keep them off balance to close out the game. Our offense had a slow start but we persisted in creating opportunities as the game unfolded. Allie Chesney has been absolutely clutch off the bench in pinch hitting situations. I always feel like we have a chance with our offense; no matter what the score is or how late we are in a game. It was a very productive and hard fought series for our program. "
This afternoon's match also marked Senior Day where four Dolphins were celebrated to start off the day.
