LOCASTRO NAMED TO FIRST TEAM AS FOUR FROM WOMEN’S LACROSSE EARN NEC ALL-CONFERENCE HONORS

Bridgewater, N.J. – Le Moyne College senior defender Lilly Locastro (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) has been named to the Northeast Conference women's lacrosse All-Conference First Team, as voted upon by the league's 11 head coaches and announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon.

Senior attacker Sarah Hutchings (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and senior midfielder Rhonee Shea Pal (Canastota, N.Y./Bishop Grimes) were selected to the all-conference second team and freshman midfielder Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson) was tabbed to the all-rookie team.

Locastro earns all-conference honors for the first time in her career. The NEC Defensive Player of the Week a league-best four times, she registered career-highs of 54 ground balls and 47 caused turnovers as a starter in all 18 games. She leads the NEC and is sixth nationally in caused turnovers (47), while she leads the NEC and is seventh nationally in caused turnovers per game (2.61). She leads the NEC and is fifth nationally in total ground balls (54), while she is second in the NEC and tied for 11th nationally in ground balls per game (3.00). Her 47 caused turnovers are the most in a season in the program's history, while her per game average is the best by almost 0.5 per game. The previous record of 45 was set by Vicki Graveline '17 during the 2017 season. Locastro had the second-best ground ball average in a season by a Dolphin since 1998 and the fifth-highest total in a season since 1997.

She caused multiple turnovers in 10 games, including eight games with at least four. She caused a career-best six at Saint Francis on April 3 to tie the program's single-game record. She had 14 games scooping multiple ground balls, including seven games with at least four. She posted seven ground balls against both Cornell and Saint Francis, which tied for the fourth-most in a game in the program's history and the most since 2019.

Hutchings also collects her first career all-conference recognition. The NEC Player of the Week on March 18, she led the Le Moyne offense with a career-best 54 points on 32 goals and a career-high 22 assists as a starter in all 18 games, while adding 19 ground balls. She recorded multiple points in 13 games, including at least four points in seven games. She found the back of the net multiple times in 10 contests, including five games with at least three tallies, and dished out multiple assists in six games. She tallied a career-best six points in wins over Stonehill (March 16) and Central Connecticut State (April 10), while registering a career-high five goals in the win over Stonehill and a career-best four assists in the CCSU victory.

Pal also receives all-conference accolades for the first time in her career. The NEC Player of the Week on February 19, she recorded a career-high 30 points on a career-best 25 goals and five assists as a starter in all 15 games played, while adding 29 draw controls, a career-high 15 ground balls and a career-best eight caused turnovers. She recorded multiple points in nine games, including at least three points in five games. She found the back of the net multiple times in seven contests, including five games with at least three tallies. She posted multiple draw controls in eight games, including three games with a career-best four. She had five contests with multiple ground balls, including a pair of game with a career-high three. She registered a career-high five points on a career-best five goals in the 9-6 season-opening win over Cal, while posting a career-high two assists in the win over Stonehill.

Barney earns all-rookie honors after registering 13 points on nine goals and four assists as a starter in 10 of 18 games played, while posting 22 draw controls, 12 ground balls and 11 caused turnovers. She scored in six games, including a season-high three times in a 7-6 win over Sacred Heart on March 9, which earned her NEC Rookie of the Week accolades. She recorded a season-high three caused turnovers against Cornell, while having three draw controls against Cornell, Merrimack and FDU and scooping up three ground balls against Delaware State.

The Dolphins finished their first season back at the Division I level with a 9-9 record, including an 8-2 mark in their initial season in the NEC.
