VOLLEYBALL'S COMEBACK VERSUS CORNELL FALLS SHORT IN FOUR SETS

Ithaca, N.Y.  – The Le Moyne College took on the Cornell Big Red and fell in four sets on Friday night. Cornell won the first two sets before Le Moyne stormed back in set three and fell just short of a comeback to push the match to five sets. The loss pushes Le Moyne to 1-7 early in the season.

For the Dolphins, freshman outside hitter sophomore opposite hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) led with seven kills while freshman outside hitter Denali Louden (Murreita, C.A. / Murrieta Mesa), freshman middle hitter Anaya Rawlinson (Whitby, O.N. / Sinclair Secondary School), and freshman outside hitter Jazmin Rodriguez (Madera, C.A. / Madera) each hit the five kills mark. Junior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) put up a team-high in assists with 14, with freshman setter Skylar Jehlen (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) adding 12 of her own alongside three service aces for Le Moyne. On defense, freshman libero Brooke Menke (St. Louis, M.O. / Visitation Academy) added the high in digs with eight while Gerken (seven) and Louden (six) contributed, as well. Lupton and junior middle hitter Kayla Anstett (Rochester, N.Y. / Hilton) led the squad with one block each against Cornell.

For the Big Red, Mackenzie Parsons led with 12 kills while also adding six blocks and two digs. Doga Ozalp and Kohanihokuao Misipeka tallied the highs in assists with 19 and 14, respectively. On the defensive side of the ball, Misipeka tallied nine digs while Ava Bogan recorded six total blocks in the win.

The Dolphins will return home to take on Niagara University (3-7) tomorrow, Saturday, Sept. 21 at 5:00 P.M. on Ted Grant Court.
