WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CONCLUDES ROAD STAND WITH LOSS AT SAINT FRANCIS

Loretto, Pa. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team concluded its four-game road stand with a 71-43 loss at Saint Francis University Saturday evening in Northeast Conference action at SFU's DeGol Arena.

The Red Flash shot 45% from three-point range, collected 14 offensive rebounds and tallied 19 assists on 26 made field goals to improve to 2-2 in NEC play.

Le Moyne, which tied its season high of 26 points in the paint, drops to 0-3 against Northeast Conference competition.

Saint Francis freshman guard Airah Lavy led all scorers with 14 points on 4-5 shooting from three-point range and 2-2 from the free throw line. Junior guard Marissa Shelton also scored in double figures for the Red Flash with 12 points, while sophomore forward Alary Bell and senior guard Harris Robinson both added eight points. Sophomore forward Marina Artero pulled down a season-high 11 rebounds for the Red Flash, including a season-high six offensive boards.

For the Dolphins, freshman guard Eli Clark (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) and graduate forward Haedyn Roberts (Holland Patent, N.Y./Holland Patent) both scored in double figures for the second consecutive game with 11 points each, while graduate guard Megan Bodziony (Wakefield, R.I./St. Andrew's School/Fordham/Bryant) contributed seven points and a team-high six rebounds and senior forward Brianna Williams (Brampton, Ontario/Southwest Academy/Hartford) recorded a career-best five blocks and grabbed five rebounds.

Saint Francis shot 8-13 from the field during the opening quarter to jump out to an early double-digit lead and establish a 22-13 advantage after 10 minutes of action.

Lavy knocked down two threes during the second quarter as the Red Flash outscored the Dolphins 19-10 during the period to take a 41-23 lead into halftime.

Clark and sophomore forward Zhara Adeyemi (Brooklyn, N.Y./South Shore) each provided six first-half points for Le Moyne, while Roberts had a team-high seven at the intermission.

SFU began the third period on a 10-2 run with the help of seven points from Shelton to extend their lead to 51-25 with 4:40 left in the third.

Clark scored five points for Le Moyne in the third, but the Red Flash outscored Le Moyne 21-8 during the penultimate frame to open up a 31-point lead heading into the fourth.
Saint Francis narrowly outscored Le Moyne in the final frame, 11-10.

Le Moyne (0-16, 0-3 NEC) will play its first home Northeast Conference game on January 18 against Chicago State University.
