MEN’S TENNIS REGISTERS FIRST WIN OVER BINGHAMTON, 4-3

DeWitt, N.Y. – Junior Adrian Daniel (Tel Aviv, Israel/Montana State) rallied in singles action to clinch the Le Moyne College men's tennis team's first win over Binghamton University, 4-3, on Friday night in NEC action at Elevate Fitness.

The Dolphins took a 1-0 lead in the match by collecting the point in the doubles competition. Binghamton's James McPherson and Kyle Weekes earned the first win of the night, 6-2, at the third position over freshmen Jacob Maravillas (Bergenfield, N.J./Homeschooled) and Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School). Freshmen Callum Matthew (Dorset, England) and Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) evened doubles at one apiece with a 6-3 win over Filipe Costa and Andre Ajed at the second spot. Senior Peter Hatton (Syracuse, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt/Club Med Academics/Army West Point) and Daniel clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at the top position over William Binnie and Ronin Lotlikar.

The teams split the six matches in the singles competition to give the Dolphins the victory. Hatton gave the Dolphins a 2-0 lead in the match by registering his 54th career singles victory, 6-2, 6-3, over Binnie at the top spot. Lotlikar got the Bearcats in the win column with a 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 win at the second position over Maravillas. Costa evened the match at two apiece by rallying for a 4-6, 7-6 (7-4), 6-2 win over Matthew at the third spot. Ajed put Binghamton in front with a 6-4, 6-7 (2-7), 6-4 victory at the fourth position over Hoyland. Bortolaso knotted the match at three apiece with back-to-back 6-3 wins at the sixth spot over Andrew Fang, who clinched the match between the teams at Elevate last year. After being edged in the first set, 7-6 (7-5), Daniel recorded consecutive 6-3 victories over McPherson at the fifth position.
