WOMEN’S BASKETBALL RECORDS 76-60 EXHIBITION WIN OVER ROCHESTER

Syracuse, N.Y. – Freshman guard Peyton Dincher (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) tallied 15 points to lead the Le Moyne College women's basketball team in a 76-60 exhibition win over the University of Rochester on Friday night at Ted Grant Court.

Dincher recorded seven of her game-high point total in the opening quarter, while adding three assists and three steals in 16 minutes off the bench. Junior forward Ashley Buragas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay/Mineral Area College) posted 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting and pulled down three rebounds. Senior guard Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y./Albertus Magnus) was the third Dolphin in double figures with 11 points, including a trio of three-pointers in the fourth quarter.

Grace Corelli led the Yellowjackets in the loss with 11 points and a game-best nine rebounds. Tia Poulakidas turned in 10 points and four rebounds.

After Rochester opened the game's scoring, sophomore guard Eli Clark (Oakhurst, N.J./Ocean Township) made a lay-up and a pair of three-pointers in a span of 51 seconds.

The teams traded points over the next five minutes before Dincher made two lay-ups and a three-pointer around a Rochester basket to put the Dolphins up by 10 for the first time as Le Moyne closed out the opening quarter leading 23-13.

Le Moyne scored the first five points of the second quarter and nine of the first 11 to take its largest lead of the half, 32-15, with 4:29 left. Buragas had a put-back lay-up and then Dincher made another three-pointer. Buragas had another lay-up with 6:02 left and freshman forward Ava Johnson (Richmond, Va./The Steward School) capped the jaunt with a jumper.

Following four Rochester free throws around a Le Moyne three-pointer, junior guard Jessica Wangolo (Ottawa, Ontario/Capital Courts Academy/Buffalo) made a foul shot to give the Dolphins a 36-20 lead at halftime.

The teams split the first 20 points of the third quarter as Le Moyne's lead fluctuated between 13 and 18 points over the opening 5:46.

Buragas converted a lay-up with 3:17 left in the period to give the Dolphins their largest lead of the game, 50-31.

Rochester answered with 11 of the last 15 points to close within 54-42 after three quarter of play. Poulakidas scored five of the points, while Corelli had four.

Claire Groenewoud scored the final two points of the third quarter and the first two of the fourth quarter to pull the Yellowjackets within 10.

Linnin answered with three-pointers on back-to-back possessions around one from Corelli to push the margin back to 13.

Following two Rochester free throws, Dincher hit a three-pointer and Buragas made a lay-up off a steal by Dincher to make it a 16-point game again.

Rochester scored four points in 33 seconds to get within 12 again with 4:13 left, but that would mark the closest it would get the remainder of the game.

Wangolo and Buragas scored in the paint off passes from Dincher to push the margin back to 16 with 3:16 left, but Peyton Jones recorded a conventional three-point play with 3:01 to go.

The teams alternated points the remainder of the game as Le Moyne closed out the win, which included four points from Wangolo.
