Lewisburg, Pa. – Tuana Coskun scored 19 points to lead Bucknell University to a 65-41 win over the Le Moyne College women's basketball team on Tuesday morning at Sojka Pavilion.
Freshman guard
Peyton Dincher (Jersey Shore, Pa./Jersey Shore) led the Dolphins offensively with a career-high 14 points, including six points in each of the last two quarters, while grabbing four rebounds for the fourth straight game. Redshirt sophomore guard
Amya McLeod (Rome, N.Y./Rome Free Academy/Youngstown State) led the Dolphins in rebounds with a career-best seven.
Coskun recorded all of her points over the first three quarters, including 10 in the third, while adding six rebounds and three blocks. Reese Zemitis tallied 14 points, including nine in the fourth quarter, four rebounds and two blocks. Elana Weisman turned in 10 points and six rebounds.
The Bison scored the first 14 points of the game over the initial 7:19. Coskun led Bucknell in the run with six points, while four others each had two points.
The Dolphins got two free throws from junior guard
Jessica Wangolo (Ottawa, Ontario/Capital Courts Academy/Buffalo) and a jumper from Dincher to close out the quarter's scoring.
Le Moyne scored four of the first five points of the second quarter on baskets by junior forward
Ashley Buragas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y./John Jay/Mineral Area College) and freshman
Praise Matthews (Red Lion, Pa./Dallastown) to cut its deficit to seven with just over seven minutes remaining.
The Bison scored the final 10 points of the half to take a 25-8 lead into halftime. Ella Kreuzer started the run with a three-pointer, Coskun scored three points over two possessions and then Isabella Casey posted the last four points.
After Bucknell took a 35-14 lead with 7:19 left on a three-pointer by Coskun, the Dolphins scored nine of the next 11 points to close within 37-23 with 2:23 to go. Dincher made a pair of three-pointers around a free throw from Buragas and then senior guard
Michelina Lombardi (Wynantskill, N.Y./Averill Park) converted a driving lay-up.
The Bison closed out the quarter with nine of the last 10 points, including five from Coskun, for a 46-24 lead.
Bucknell took its first 30-point lead with 4:32 left with 13 of the first 18 points of the fourth quarter. Zemitis scored the first seven points and nine points total in the run, while Weisman had the other four points.
Le Moyne responded with 12 of the last 18 points to deliver the final score. Dincher drilled two more three-pointers in the streak, while McLeod started the stretch with a lay-up and later added a free throw.
Le Moyne (1-5) is back in action on Sunday at the University of Illinois at 3:00 p.m. ET / 2:00 p.m. CT.
