Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team hosted SUNY Geneseo and came away with a 67-55 victory over the Knights at Ted Grant Court on Tuesday afternoon. The Dolphins now sit with a 2-11 record after their final non-conference game of the 2025-26 season.
Junior forward Ashley Buragas (Hopewell Junction, N.Y. / John Jay / Mineral Area College) led all players with 16 points and seven rebounds through 25 minutes on the court. She shot 5-8 (62.5%) from the field and 6-7 (85.7%) from the charity stripe in the win.
Sophomore guard Eli Clark (Oakhurst, N.J. / Ocean Township) sat just behind Buragas with 15 points, tying Geneseo's leading scorer, while shooting 6-10 (60.0%) overall and 3-5 (60.0%) from deep. Senior guard Sierra Linnin (Valley Cottage, N.Y. / Albertus Magnus) and freshman forward Praise Matthews (Red Lion, Pa. / Dallastown) finished with 7 and 6 points, respectively, while 10 total 'Phins contributed in the score column.
Le Moyne shot 20-23 (87.0%) from the free-throw line, their best total since Dec. 7 of last season when they went 21-25 against UMass Lowell. They also added a season-high 14 steals, their most in nearly two seasons (3/2/24 vs Saint Francis; 15) against the Knights.
The Dolphins shot 20-55 (36.4%) from the field while tallying 20 points in the paint, 14 points off turnovers, and 20 bench points in the loss.
Kristin Suydam led Geneseo with 15 points on 4-6 (66.7%) shooting from the field including one three and a perfect 6-6 mark from the line. She also led the team in rebounds with six and blocks with two in the loss. Sofia Vasselman followed closely behind in both categories with 11 points and five rebounds.
E. Clark and Linnin opened the scoring for Le Moyne with a pair of three-pointers before free throws from Buragas and freshman guard Peyton Dincher (Jersey Shore, Pa. / Jersey Shore) extended the team's lead to four, 12-8, with 2:59 remaining in the opening quarter. Buragas rounded out the frame with a jumper in the paint for the Dolphins.
Le Moyne took a 10 point lead nearly four minutes into the second quarter on the tails of two made free throws and a layup all from Matthews. Back-to-back threes from E. Clark and Dincher put the team up 30-17 with 3:30 left before halftime and they held onto an eight-point lead into the break.
Another pair of free throws from Buragas along with buckets from the field by the junior forward and E. Clark kept their lead at eight, 40-32, midway through the third. Despite a three-minute stretch without a bucket, the Dolphins outscored the Knights, 11-3, in the final 2:26 including a buzzer-beating three from freshman guard Kayden Clark (Oakhurst, N.J. / Manasquan).
Entering the fourth quarter with a 51-40 lead, Le Moyne added five straight points before taking a 15-point lead on a fastbreak layup from senior guard Michelina Lombardi (Wynantskill, N.Y. / Averill Park) at the 4:37 mark. A three from sophomore guard Sophia Bonnell (Horseheads, N.Y. / Horseheads / SUNY New Paltz) and layup by freshman forward Rachel Lynch (Cork, Ireland / Putnam Science Academy (Conn.)) gave the team a game-best 18-point cushion.
Geneseo recorded eight of the final 10 points but couldn't complete the comeback as the Dolphins held on for their second win of the season, 67-55.
