Jacey Locci (Stillwater, N.Y./Stillwater) has been named the NEC Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week, as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Locci and the Dolphins competed at the Brockport Multi this past Saturday, a meet in which three new program records were set. One of those records was set by jumping specialist
Jacey Locci, who broke the high jump record after recording a height of 5-feet, 5.25-inches and earning herself a 1
st place finish.
On top of the high jump event, Locci competed in the 200m event at the Brockport Multi, placing 20
th overall with a time of 28.72, and the 4x400 relay, recording a 7
th place finish with a time of 4:28.89.
"In the past month, it seems like we've talked about distance school records and sprints," said head coach
Robin Wheeless. "We even had a throwing record, but we haven't talked about our women jumpers enough. Today
Lilly Capria added over a foot to her long jump record, and
Jacey Locci took the school record in the high jump that moved her to second in the conference. I'm looking forward to next week!"
This award comes just before the 2025 NEC Indoor Track & Field Championships, which are scheduled to begin Sunday February 16
th at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in Staten Island, N.Y.
