Erie, Pa. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team recorded its second win of the weekend with a 6-1 victory over Edinboro University of Pennsylvania Saturday at the Westwood Racquet Club in Erie.
The Dolphins swept all three doubles matches to claim the first point of the day. Le Moyne's duo of junior
Ella Fernando (Manchester, England/Stonyhurst College) and graduate
Feriel Mahbouli (Tunis, Tunisia/Lycee 36/South Carolina State) improved to 4-0 in dual matches with a 6-2 victory over Rafaella de Almeida and Luciana Ponce in first position doubles.
Senior
Isabella Barona (Manta, Ecuador/Talentos de Manta) and freshman
Charlotte Klein (Mellenthin, Germany/Education World Wide (Fla.)) bested Sofia Benito and Cecilia Carayol by a score of 7-5 in the No. 2 doubles match, while junior
Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey) and freshman
Adelie Wilson (Binghamton, N.Y./Chenango Valley), competing in her first dual match of the spring, prevailed against Maria Clara Salomao and Lara Sener in the third position by a score of 7-6 (7-5).
Carayol claimed Edinboro's sole points of the match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Klein in first position singles.
Fernando registered a 6-0, 6-2 win over Ponce in the second position, Alvarez outlasted Benito 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 3 singles match, while sophomore
Lilia Raiss (Temara, Morocco/Descartes) bested Benito 6-1, 6-3 in the fourth position in her first singles match of the spring.
Junior
Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) recorded a 6-1, 6-0 win over Sener in the fifth position, and Wilson defeated Salomao 6-3, 6-3 in the No. 6 singles match.
The Le Moyne women's tennis team will return to action Monday for a 7:30 a.m. Northeast Conference match against Stonehill at Elevate Fitness in DeWitt.
