Syracuse, N.Y. – Samantha Hewitt keyed a second half comeback as Saint Francis University recorded a 13-10 victory over the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team on Saturday at Ted Grant Field.
The Dolphins close out the season with a record of 4-13, including 3-6 in NEC play.
The Red Flash opened the game's scoring at the 10:55 mark as Brooke Lacey scored her 32nd goal of the season.
Le Moyne answered with the final two goals of the first quarter and the first three goals of the second quarter. Sophomore midfielder
Julia Blakeslee (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) evened the score at one apiece with 7:23 left with her 16th tally of the season. Only 47 seconds later, sophomore midfielder
Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson) put the Dolphins in front with her 21st goal of the year after taking a pass from freshman attacker
Mackenzie Prentice (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). Prentice then opened the second quarter's scoring just 45 seconds into the period with her 13th marker of the campaign. Just 40 seconds later, junior attacker
Alexa Strelick (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) converted a free-position shot for her 12th goal of the year. Only 57 seconds later, senior attacker
Grace Detor (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) found the back of the net for the 11th time for a 5-1 lead and to force a Saint Francis timeout.
Lacey ended her team's scoring drought of 16:45 with her 33rd goal of the season with 9:10 to go.
The Lacey goal kicked off a stretch of alternating goals. Prentice countered 51 seconds later with her 14th goal of the season. Lacey brought it back to a three-goal game with a player-down score with 5:32 left. Junior attacker
Bella Sampo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) pushed Le Moyne's lead back to four for the final time with 1:33 left with her 14th tally of the year. Elizabeth Mahmud capped the scoring in the half with 43 seconds remaining with her 12th goal of the season.
The Red Flash started their comeback with the first two goals of the third quarter. Lacey scored at the 10:08 mark and then Hewitt found the back of the net with 8:29 left.
Barney pushed Le Moyne's lead back to two with a free-position tally with 6:12 remaining, but Julia Givens answered 36 seconds later by finishing off a feed from Heather Delbone for her 30th goal of the season.
Freshman midfielder
Carrie Bennett (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa) closed out the scoring in the quarter with her eighth goal of the season with 14 seconds remaining after taking a pass from Prentice.
Saint Francis rattled off six straight goals to start the fourth quarter. Hewitt started the run at the 14:03 mark with her 25th goal of the campaign. Givens knotted the score at nine with 11:03 left by converting a free-position shot. Christina Roncarati followed 56 seconds later with the go-ahead goal, her 30th tally of the season, after taking a pass from Bella Tesche. Hewitt then scored with 8:05 remaining after receiving a feed from Mahmud. Victoria DiRenno pushed SFU's lead to three with 6:48 left by converting a free-position shot for her fourth goal of the season. Mat Patten concluded the run with her 24th tally of the year with 3:09 remaining.
Prentice completed the season's scoring with 2:24 left by finishing off a feed from Barney.

Amanda Manfredi (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) made 10 saves, against 10 goals, over 49:53 between the pipes. Taylor Coughlin earned the win for the Red Flash after making 11 saves.
