Hanover, Md. – The Le Moyne College baseball team registered a 23-3 win over Coppin State University in seven innings on Sunday to close out a conference series sweep against the Eagles in Hanover.
Le Moyne held a 3-1 lead after three innings, then tallied 11 runs in the fourth and seven in the fifth to break the game open.
The Dolphins set a program record with 18 walks drawn during the seven innings. Le Moyne also set a program record on Saturday, stealing 12 bases during the 15-6 win in game two.
Sophomore left fielder
Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) tallied three hits, two walks, three runs, two RBIs and two stolen bases during the win, while freshman infielder
Tim Denet (West Harrison, N.Y./Iona Prep) recorded two hits, two walks, three runs and two RBIs.
Junior outfielder
Paulie Goodness (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon/Finger Lakes Community College) also scored three runs with one hit, one walk and two RBIs, and freshman catcher/designated hitter
Derek Diaz (White Plains, N.Y./Iona Prep) added one hit, one walk, two runs and three RBIs.
Fifth-year senior right-handed starting pitcher
Bobby McBride (Brewster, N.Y./Brewster/UConn/Coastal Carolina) collected his second win of the season on the mound after recording six strikeouts with two hits, three walks and one run allowed in 5.0 innings of work.
Freshman right-hander
Nathan Hiscox (Canton, Conn./Canton) tossed 1.0 inning in relief, then freshman right-hander
Michael Pastrana (Montgomery, Ala./Homeschooled) made his collegiate debut on the mound, pitching one inning with one strikeout.
Shortstop Daniel Moore recorded two RBIs with one hit and one walk for Coppin State, while first baseman Indy Anderson added a solo home run in the sixth.
Le Moyne improved to 14-7 in NEC play following the sweep, while Coppin State dropped to 11-10.
The Dolphins have now recorded three conference sweeps so far this season.
The Le Moyne baseball team will return to action on Tuesday with a non-conference matchup against Canisius University at 3:00 p.m. at Dick Rockwell Field.
