Bridgewater, N.J. – Recent Le Moyne College graduates
Gina Cittadino (Utica, N.Y./New Hartford) and
Anna Montgomery (Auburn, N.Y./Auburn) were named recipients of the 2024-25 Northeast Conference Female Team Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, as announced by the conference office on Wednesday afternoon.
In its 19th year, the NEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year award, which is sponsored by the league's Faculty Athletic Representatives, goes to the male and female student-athletes who have exhausted athletic eligibility, graduated and compiled the highest grade point average in the conference at the conclusion of the academic year.
Wagner led the way with three NEC Team Scholar-Athletes of the Year, while Le Moyne and conference newcomer Mercyhurst also produced multiple honorees with two recipients apiece, while LIU and Saint Francis each had one apiece. Cittadino and Montgomery are Le Moyne's first two recipients of the award.
"These student-athletes are extremely deserving of NEC Team Scholar-Athlete of the Year recognition," said NEC Commissioner Noreen Morris. "In addition to ability, it takes a great deal of commitment to attain a perfect 4.0 GPA, all while competing at the highest level as a Division I athlete. Congratulations to this impressive group!"
Cittadino earns the honor after finishing her career with a 4.0 GPA as a biology major. As a senior, she competed in all 11 meets and recorded career-best times in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard backstroke at the NEC Championships.
Montgomery collects the recognition after closing her career with a 4.0 GPA as a political science major. A starter in 35 consecutive games to conclude her career, she had 18 ground balls and five caused turnovers as a senior. She wraps up her tenure on the Heights with 40 ground balls and 12 caused turnovers.
