Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College volleyball team hosted Rider University to open their 2025 season and the Salt City Classic and came away with a four-set loss on Friday night. The Broncs took set one, 25-20, before the Dolphins stormed back for a hard-fought 26-24 victory in set two. Rider took the final two sets, 25-22 and 25-11, to close out Le Moyne in the season-opener.
For the Dolphins, sophomore outside hitter Denali Louden (Murrieta, C.A. / Murrieta Mesa) led the way with 16 kills while sophomore outside hitter Jordyn Hamlin (Manahawkin, N.J. / Southern Regional) added another 11. Louden also tacked on nine digs in the loss, also leading the squad. Senior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) put up a team-high 21 assists with sophomore setter Skylar Jehlen (Rochester, N.Y. / Churchville-Chili) recorded another 14 assists against Rider. Junior opposite hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) and freshman middle hitter Eiley Schneider (Ramsey, N.J./Ramsey) tied for two blocks apiece while sophomore libero/DS Brooke Menke (St. Louis, M.O. / Visitation Academy) led Le Moyne with three service aces.
For Rider, Kiannisha Santiago and Rylah Robinson led with 14 kills each while Makenna Mason led with both 40 assists and 15 digs in the win. Molly Rohde rounded out the Broncs' stat-leaders with five service aces and six blocks against the Dolphins
Le Moyne will host Niagara University at home on Ted Grant Court at an updated gametime of 5:00 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Aug. 30.
