VOLLEYBALL FALLS TO SYRACUSE; LOUDEN NAMED TO ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM

Syracuse, N.Y.  – The Le Moyne College volleyball team traveled across town to Syracuse University and fell to the Orange in three sets on Sunday afternoon. Syracuse came away with 25-9, 25-18, and 25-8 set wins to hand Le Moyne their second loss of the season and close out the Salt City Classic. The Dolphins now sit with a 1-2 record through the first week of the season.  

Sophomore outside hitter Denali Louden (Murrieta, C.A. / Murrieta Mesa) led Le Moyne with seven kills while sophomore outside hitter Nina Salas (Austin, T.X. / McNeil) added another five, as well. Senior setter Haley Gerken (Buffalo, N.Y. / Frontier) tallied a 'Phins-best eleven assists and another nine digs with sophomore libero/DS Brooke Menke (St. Louis, M.O. / Visitation Academy) registering a team-high 11 in the category. Junior opposite hitter Branwyn Lupton (Napanee, O.N. / Napanee District Secondary School) blocked a team-leading three shots in the loss.

Gabby McLaughlin led the Orange in three statistical categories in the win; kills (13), digs (10), and service aces (2). Tehya Maeva added a match-best 32 assists while Oreva Evivie came away with six blocks for Syracuse. 

Louden was named to the 2025 Salt City Classic All-Tournament Team after recording 45.0 points on 42 kills, 27 digs, five assists, two service aces, and 2.0 blocks through the team's 12 sets in the tournament. 

Le Moyne will hit the court again in Newark, Del. as they take part in the Blue Hen Invitational hosted by the University of Delaware on Saturday and Sunday, Sep. 6 and 7. Their first matchup of the weekend will be with Hampton University at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday.
