Chapel Hill, N.C. —  The Le Moyne College baseball team dropped the final game of a three-game series with #8 North Carolina on Sunday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium, 20-1.

Eight different players drove in runs for the Tar Heels, led by catcher Colin Hynek who had two hits, including a home run, five runs batted in and walked twice. RIght fielder Jaydn Nunez recorded a grand slam and drove in five runs total, while third baseman Cooper Nicholson added a two-run shot. First baseman Erik Paulsen had three hits and drove in three runs.

Junior left-hander Folger Boaz earned the victory for North Carolina after registering six strikeouts and allowing one run in 5.0 innings of work.

For Le Moyne, junior right fielder Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) drove in the Dolphins' only run of the game on a fielder's choice, while sophomore designated hitter Robert Wegrzyn (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara-Wheatfield) added two singles.

Redshirt sophomore right-hander Billy Canale (Niskayuna, N.Y. Niskayuna) made the start for Le Moyne, striking out one batter and recording the loss in 0.2 innings of work. Sophomore right-hander Nathan Hiscox (Canton, Conn./Canton) was the final of four relief pitchers for the Dolphins and retired his only batter faced.

North Carolina loaded the bases with two outs in the bottom of the first inning and Hynek hit a bases-clearing double down the left field line to make it 3-0. Nicholson followed with a two-run homer over the left field wall for his second home run of the series. The Tar Heels loaded the bases again and pushed another run across on a walk to make it 6-0. Paulsen followed with a bases-clearing double of his own to make it a 9-0 North Carolina lead.

Junior second baseman Ethan Farina (Clifton Park, N.Y./Shenendehowa/Saint Rose) and senior centerfielder Paulie Goodness (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon Finger Lakes Community College) each singled to begin the top of the third inning and junior shortstop Mike Whelehan (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) reached on an error to load the bases for the Dolphins. Cannon then grounded into a fielder's choice to the shortstop that allowed Farina to score from third and made it 9-1.

North Carolina loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the third inning and a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Macon Winslow made it 10-1. The Tar Heels then scored two more runs on wild pitches and a walk was followed by a two-run home run to left field by Hynek to make it 14-1.

Wegrzyn singled and freshman left fielder Isaac Brozon (Aurora, N.Y. Southern Cayuga) worked a walk to give the Dolphins first and second with no outs in the top of the fourth inning, but they were unable to push a runner across.
