Syracuse, N.Y. – Le Moyne College softball's freshman outfielder Kayla Dunkerley (Purcellville, Va. / Loudon Valley) has been named an NEC Softball Co-Rookie of the Week for her performance during the Dolphin's four games against UAlbany and Saint Francis from Mar. 25-30. 

Dunkerley hit .357 in 14 at-bats over the week with a 1.295 OPS, good for second-best on the 'Phins. She tallied a pair of doubles, one triple, her first collegiate homerun, and walked to reach base twice, as well. Dunkerley recorded 3 RBI while coming around to score four times for Le Moyne. 

During the team's 9-6 win over Saint Francis on Sunday, Dunkerley went 3-3 with a double, triple, and a walk while driving in two runs and scoring twice herself. 

Dunkerley's NEC Rookie of the Week nod marks Le Moyne's third of the season after freshman pitcher Tatum Nessman (Calgary, Alberta / National Sport School) earned the award on Feb. 10 and Dunkerley earned it for the first time on Mar. 10. 

Along with Dunkerley, senior first baseman Audrey Benderski (Spring Lake Park, Minn./Spring Lake Park) was named a Prime Performer, as well. 

Benderski slashed .583/.643/.1083 for a 1.726 OPS, leading the team in all four categories through 12 at-bats. She registered one double, one triple, and one home run for a team-leading 13 total bases while adding 4 RBI and scoring four times in as many games.

Le Moyne will host FDU in a three-game NEC set at home this coming weekend, Friday and Saturday, Apr. 3-4.
