Olean, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College men's tennis team closed out its non-conference schedule with a 4-3 in over St. Bonaventure University on Friday afternoon at the Outdoor Tennis Courts.
The Dolphins took the lead in the match by collecting the point in the doubles competition. Freshmen
Carlo Zucchini (Varese, Italy/European School of Varese) and
Gabriel Segubiense (Sugar Land, Texas/Clements) opened with a 6-3 victory at the top spot over Davis Matney and Alex Kim. Connor Turner and Dilraj Dhillon evened the competition at one apiece with a 6-3 win over sophomores
Luke Hoyland (Sheffield, England/Birkdale School) and
Lorenzo Bortolaso (Bassano del Grappa, Italy/IT IS Enrico Fermi) at the second position. Sophomore
Callum Matthew (Dorset, England/Highcliffe School) and junior
Yegor Boyev (London, England/Ashcroft Technology Academy) clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at the third spot over Luke Ollivierre and Arjun Pindiprolu.
The teams split the singles competition with the Dolphins claiming the bottom three spots to secure the victory. Bortolaso won at the fourth position over Dhillon, 6-4, 6-1. Segubiense tallied a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Ollivierre at the fifth spot. Boyev blanked Pindiprolu at the sixth position, 6-0, 6-0. In the closest match of the afternoon, Turner edged Zucchini at the top spot, 6-3, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4. Matney posted a 6-2, 6-3 at the second position over Matthew. Kim recorded consecutive scores of 6-1 to defeat Hoyland at the third spot.
Le Moyne (4-8) closes out the regular season on Saturday at Binghamton University at 4:00 p.m.
