Brookville, N.Y. – Lindsey Lucia bookended an 8-0 run to lead LIU to a 10-7 win over the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team in NEC action on Sunday afternoon at Shark Stadium.

Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson) started the scoring just 40 seconds into the game after taking a pass from graduate student attacker
Francesca Tortora (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Stony Brook). With 12:29 to go, Tortora tallied her first goal of the game.
Julia Trainor cut Le Moyne's lead in half by converting a free-position shot with 8:55 remaining in the opening quarter.
Tortora scored again with 3:47 left after causing a turnover and collecting the loose ball.
LIU took control of the game with eight straight goals to start the second quarter. Lucia ignited the run at the 13:08 mark. Just 57 seconds later, Kayla McCarthy tied the score at three off a pass from Selia Lyons. McCarthy put the Sharks in front with 10:20 remaining after taking a feed from Alexa Nuzzi. Trainor scored her second goal of the contest 45 seconds later after receiving a pass from Lyons during an extra-player situation. Lauren Baudier followed 36 seconds later after collecting a dish from Trainor, who scored 26 seconds later off a pass from Lucia. Lyons made it seven goals in a row with 6:20 remaining off a feed from Nuzzi. Lucia capped the streak of eight goals in 8:53 with an unassisted tally with 4:15 left in the half to give the Sharks a 9-3 lead.

Olivia Lockwood (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee/Onondaga C.C.) snapped Le Moyne's drought of 17:40 with her team-best 37th goal with 1:07 until halftime to get the Dolphins within 9-4.
Neither team scored in the third quarter as each goalkeeper turned away the three shots they faced.

Julia Blakeslee (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) found the back of the net with 13:47 remaining. Just under five minutes later, Tortora tallied her third goal of the contest to make it 9-6. Following three empty possessions by each team, Tortora netted her 29th goal of the season during an extra-player opportunity get the Dolphins within two with 3:14 to play.
Following a green card on the Dolphins, Lyons added an insurance goal during the extra-player situation after receiving a pass from Erin Harkins with 1:14 left, which snapped LIU's scoreless span of 33:01.

Amanda Manfredi (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) recorded eight saves in the setback. Skyler Fig made seven saves to earn the win between the pipes.
Le Moyne (11-3, 6-1 NEC), which closes out its home schedule on Saturday against FDU at 11:00 a.m., is now in a three-way tie for first place in the NEC with LIU and Stonehill. LIU and Stonehill play each other on Saturday, which will clear the three-way tie. If Stonehill wins and the Dolphins win out, Le Moyne will be the top seed in the conference tournament (April 30 and May 2) due to its head-to-head win over Stonehill, while if LIU wins, the Dolphins will need the Sharks to lose to Mercyhurst in the season finale on April 25 to gain the top seed.
