Syracuse, N.Y. — The Le Moyne College baseball team fell at home to Canisius University on Tuesday afternoon at Dick Rockwell Field, 24-11.
Seven different players recorded RBIs for the Golden Griffins, led by second baseman Eric Weeks, who drove in seven runs on three hits, including two home runs. Catcher/third baseman Blake Herman also homered twice and drove in six runs. Center fielder Andrew Marcello drove in three runs on two hits, including a homer, and left fielder Brayden Hy also homered, drove in two runs and walked once. Shortstop Jc Spinosa added three RBIs on two hits and walked once.
Right-hander Kyle Finn made the start on the mound for Canisius, pitching 1.1 innings of work, allowing three runs, one of which was earned, and striking out two batters. Right-hander Brian Smith was the first of five relievers for the Golden Griffins, pitching 1.2 innings of work, striking out one batter and earning the win. Right-hander Jackson Long completed a scoreless final inning on the mound.

Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) led the Dolphins with five runs batted in on three hits, including a home run, his sixth of the season, walked once and stole two bases. Sophomore first baseman

Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) recorded three hits, including a double, in his first appearance since March 20.
Redshirt sophomore right-hander
Eric Swienecicki (
Lancaster, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) made the start for Le Moyne, pitching 1.0 inning of work, allowing two runs and striking out one batter. Freshman right-hander
Landon Cook (Minoa, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) was the first of five relief pitchers for the Dolphins, pitching 1.0 inning of work, striking out three batters and recording the loss.
A single and a hit-by-pitch put runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the first. Spinosa then lined a two-run double down the right field line to give Canisius an early 2-0 lead.
Senior center fielder
Paulie Goodness (
Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon/Finger Lakes Community College) was hit by a pitch to begin the bottom of the first. He stole second and then stole third, which induced an errant throw that went into the outfield, allowing him to score to make it a 2-1 game. Cannon and senior shortstop
Adam Sullivan (
Syracuse, N.Y./Marcellus) worked back-to-back one-out walks, and advanced on a double steal. Romich then lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to score Cannon and tie the game at 2-2.
A walk and a fielding error put runners on first and second with two outs in the top of the second and a two-run double to center field by Weeks gave Canisius a 4-2 lead. First baseman Michael Kelly walked before Spinosa lined an RBI single to right center to make it 5-2. Hy was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Herman launched a grand slam to right center, making it a 9-2 game.
A walk by Anthony and Brozon and a hit-by-pitch by Goodness loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the second and an RBI infield single by Cannon made it 9-3.
Consecutive one-out singles by designated hitter Bennett Cox and third baseman Grady Brown put runners on first and third in the top of the third inning and a wild pitch allowed Cox to score, giving Canisius a 10-3 advantage.
Herman hit a two-out solo shot to left field in the top of the fourth inning, his second of the game, to make it an 11-3 game. Right fielder Rocco Panepinto walked and Marcello singled before an RBI infield single by Cox made it 12-3. A walk loaded the bases before Weeks lifted a grand slam over the left field wall to make it a 16-3 game.
Brozon was hit by a pitch with one out in the bottom of the fourth for the Dolphins. He stole second base before Cannon ripped an RBI double down the left field line to make it 16-4. The next batter was retired before an RBI single through the right side by Romich made it 16-5. Duprey then homered to right center for his first collegiate home run, making it 16-7.
Spinosa walked and Hy doubled to begin the top of the fifth and an RBI single to left field made it 17-7. Panepinto followed with an RBI single through the left side before Marcello lined a three-run shot over the left field wall to put Canisius ahead 21-7.
A double by Anthony and walks to Becker and Goodness loaded the bases to begin the bottom of the fifth for the Dolphins. Brozon then reached on a fielder's choice, which allowed Anthony to score and make it 21-8. Cannon then sent a three-run shot to center field, his sixth home run of the season, making it 21-11.
Hy launched a one-out two-run homer to left center in the top of the sixth inning to make it 23-11.
Weeks led off the top of the seventh with his second home run of the game to make it 24-11.
Long worked around a leadoff walk to complete a scoreless final inning and secure the 24-11 victory for Canisius.
Le Moyne will return to action on Friday at Norfolk State University at 3:00 p.m.
