Maddi Barney (Lorraine, N.Y./South Jefferson) tallied a career-high five goals to lead the Le Moyne College women's lacrosse team to a 22-8 victory over Central Connecticut State University in the regular season finale on Saturday afternoon at Arute Field.
With the victory, the Dolphins (13-3, 8-1 NEC) clinch a share of the NEC regular season championship and claim the top seed and the right to host the upcoming NEC Championship. The Dolphins, who have won 10 regular season conference championships (2 MAAC, 7 NE10, 1 NEC), will open pursuit of their first NEC title (and eighth overall conference championship (4 MAAC, 3 NE10)) on Thursday with a semifinal matchup against fourth-seeded FDU at 12:00 p.m. Second-seeded Stonehill College, which earned a share of its second straight regular season title, will take on third-seeded LIU in the other semifinal at 3:00 p.m.
The Dolphins opened the game with seven goals over the first 6:56. Barney started the scoring at the 13:41 mark and then scored again 61 seconds later off a pass from graduate student attacker
Francesca Tortora (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse/Stony Brook). Senior midfielder
Sara Hunter (Baldwinsville, N.Y./C.W. Baker) followed with her first of the game with 11:29 remaining. Just 50 seconds later, Tortora found the back of the net to force a timeout by the Blue Devils. Senior attacker
Bella Sampo (Syracuse, N.Y./Westhill) made it 5-0 with a player-down marker with 10:08 remaining in the quarter. Senior attacker
Alexa Strelick (Webster, N.Y./Webster Thomas) registered her 17th goal of the season with 8:46 remaining. Sampo capped the streak just 42 seconds later after collecting a loose ball from an errant shot.
Bella Magliozzo got the Blue Devils on the scoreboard at the 4:55 mark off a free-position shot.
Le Moyne closed out the quarter with the final two goals. Barney recorded her third of the day with 2:35 left off a pass from sophomore attacker
Mackenzie Prentice (Clay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse). Hunter completed the scoring with 1:10 to go after taking a feed from Tortora.
Central Connecticut State scored the first three goals of the second quarter to get within 9-4. Kaya Wieskopf scored at the 13:19 mark to force a Le Moyne timeout. Audrey Canata converted a free-position shot 60 seconds later and then Kaitlin Flynn scored with 10:41 remaining.
Barney snapped the run by finishing off a feed from Tortora with 8:16 to go.
Flynn cut the margin back to five with 3:30 left in the stanza.
Tortora wrapped up the scoring in the half with 1:11 remaining. With the goal, she became the fourth player in Le Moyne's Division I tenures (1999-2010, 2024-26) with at least 35 goals and at least 20 assists in a season. The goal also gave her five points in a game for the fifth consecutive game.
The Blue Devils scored the first two goals of the third quarter to get within 11-7. Makayla Winegar scored just 29 seconds into the second half and then Abbey Cannon followed with 12:50 left off a pass from Flynn.
Le Moyne, which has won 13 games at the Division I level for just the third time, countered with 11 consecutive goals to blow the game open. Barney ignited the streak with a free-position tally with 11:42 remaining. Junior attacker

Sophie Klein (Slingerlands, N.Y./Bethlehem) followed 52 seconds later to make it 14-7. Foster tallied her first career goal with 8:40 remaining. Jenna Santelli (Palmyra, N.Y./Palmyra-Macedon) completed the scoring in the third quarter after taking a pass in an extra-player situation from Prentice with 1:05 left.
Hunter started the scoring in the fourth quarter at the 14:28 mark after receiving a feed in an extra-player opportunity from Noel. Just over 90 seconds later, Noel gave the Dolphins 20 goals by finishing off a pass from freshman attacker
Keira Gilchrist (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk). Noel scored again another 91 seconds later during another extra-player situation. Freshman midfielder
Kacie Pilla (Watervliet, N.Y./Shaker) found the back of the net on a free-position shot with 9:11 to play to cap Le Moyne's scoring.
Amaya Monacelli concluded the game's scoring with 7:09 left off a pass from Flynn.

Amanda Manfredi (East Islip, N.Y./East Islip) earned her 13th win of the season after making five saves (against seven goals) over 45:00 between the pipes. Junior midfielder
Julia Blakeslee (Ithaca, N.Y./Ithaca) registered 12 draw controls, her fifth double-digit performance of the year, as the Dolphins won 26 of 33 draws. Maeve Tobler took the loss after recording four saves for the Blue Devils.
