Teaneck, N.J. – The Le Moyne College women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 4-0 setback to FDU in NEC action on Sunday evening at the Courtsense Bogota Racquet Club.
The Knights secured the point in the doubles competition. At the top spot, Anastasia Lim and Yelena Kim registered a 6-0 win over junior
Ella Fernando (Manchester, England/Stonyhurst College) and senior
Paula Casares (A Coruna, Spain/Colegio Maristas Cristo Rey). Valentina Silva and Katsiaryna Kostsina clinched the point with a 6-1 victory over senior
Emma Sanchez Jimenez (Marbella, Spain/Victoria Kent Marbella/Eastern Florida State College/Carson-Newman) and junior
Lilia Raiss (Temara, Morocco/Descartes) at the third position. Fredericks-McKee and Ann Kato were leading seniors
Stella Simeonova (Sofia, Bulgaria/National Gymnasium of Mathematics and Natural Sciences) and
Alicia Alvarez (Madrid, Spain/IES Ortega y Gasset), 5-1, at the second spot when the point was clinched.
FDU claimed victories at the first three positions of the singles competition to secure the match. Lim defeated Sanchez Jimenez at the top spot, 6-1, 6-3. Fredericks-McKee was a 6-3, 6-0 winner at the second position over Simeonova. Kim won at the third spot over Fernando, 6-1, 6-0.
Le Moyne (3-11, 2-5 NEC) returns to action at the NEC Championships on Thursday, April 16 at the Mercer County Tennis Center in West Windsor, N.J.
