Augusta, N.J. — The Le Moyne college baseball team was eliminated from the NEC Baseball Championship after falling to Wagner in seven innings on Friday afternoon at Skylands Stadium, 11-1.
Le Moyne finished the 2026 season with a 22-26 record overall, including 22-11 in regular season conference play. The Dolphins made their first appearance in the NEC Tournament.
Seven different players drove in runs for the Seahawks, led by designated hitter Matt Sutera, who hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the fourth inning, and added two walks. Shortstop Nicholas Mazzotta and third baseman Jayden Alvarez each recorded two RBIs on one hit and walked once, and right fielder Lukas Torres added an RBI single, walked twice and stole one base. First baseman Joseph Mannella and second baseman Dylan Immel each drove in one run on two hits, and center fielder Jackson Blakley added an RBI single.
Right-handed starting pitcher Colin Trizuto earned the victory for Wagner after allowing one run and striking out two batters over 7.0 innings of work. Trizuto completed 15 innings against the Dolphins over two starts this season, yielding just one run, 14 hits and one walk and striking out nine.

Mike Whelehan (Hilton, N.Y./Hilton) drove in the only run of the game for Le Moyne on a sacrifice fly in the top of the seventh inning. Senior shortstop

Jack Cannon (Webster, N.Y./Webster Schroeder) registered his 86th hit of the season in the first inning and he ended the year one hit shy of tying Jeff Justice '04 for the most hits in a campaign in the program's history.
Freshman right-hander
Luke VanMarter (
Jamesville, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) made the start for Le Moyne, pitching 3.1 innings of work and recording the loss. Redshirt sophomore right-hander
Eric Swienecicki (
Lancaster, N.Y./St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute) pitched 2.2 innings in relief of VanMarter, allowing four runs, two of which were earned, and striking out one batter.
Immel singled and Mazzotta walked to begin the bottom of the second inning and a sacrifice bunt by Blakely moved the runners up to second and third base. Alvarez then lined a two-run ground-rule double to left field to give the Seahawks an early 2-0 lead.
Whelehan reached on a hit-by-pitch and freshman third baseman
Isaac Brozon (
Aurora, N.Y./Southern Cayuga) singled to put runners on first and third with two outs in the top of the third inning, but the Dolphins were unable to push a runner across.
Blakley hit an RBI single to left field in the bottom of the third to make it 3-0.
Alvarez walked to lead off the bottom of the fourth inning. He advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt and Torres lined an RBI to center field to make it 4-0. Torres then moved to second on a balk before Sutera hit a two-run shot over the left field wall to give Wagner a 6-0 lead. Tavarez followed with a single and reached second on a throwing error before a wild pitch moved him up to third base. Mennella then walked and stole second base before Mazzotta lined a two-run single to left field to make it an 8-0 game.
Tavarez walked and Mannella singled to begin the bottom of the sixth and an RBI single to center field by Immel made it 9-0. Mennella scored following a throwing error later in the inning to push the Wagner lead to 10-0.
Wegrzyn singled and sophomore designated hitter
Derek Diaz (White Plains, N.Y./Iona Prep) reached on a fielder's choice to put runners on first and third with one out in the top of the seventh inning. Whelehan then lifted a sacrifice fly into center field, which scored Wegrzyn to make it a 10-1 game.
Torres and Sutera walked to put runners on first and second with two outs in the bottom of the seventh and Mannella followed with an RBI single to center field to score Torres and seal the 11-1 victory for Wagner.
The Seahawks will play again at 8:00 p.m. tonight against the loser of the Game 4 matchup between #1 LIU and #2 FDU.
