WOMEN’S BASKETBALL TO HOST KENTUCKY ON DECEMBER 13

7/17/2026 3:00:00 PM

Syracuse, N.Y. – The Le Moyne College women's basketball team will host its first Southeastern Conference (SEC) opponent in program history on December 13 when the University of Kentucky comes to Ted Grant Court at the Donald J. Savage '51 Basketball Arena.

Kentucky is the second SEC institution to ever come to the Heights for any sport as the women's lacrosse team hosted the University of Florida on April 9, 2010.

The Wildcats will be the first SEC opponent the Dolphins have faced since transitioning to the Division I level and the 13th Power 5 opponent.

The Dolphins return 10 letterwinners and one redshirt from last year's squad, which went 12-21, including 9-9 in their third season in the NEC, and advanced to the NEC semifinals for the third straight year. The Dolphins return six of their top seven leading scorers from last year as well as six of their top seven leading rebounders. Senior forward Ashley Buragas led the Dolphins in both categories with 12.7 points and 7.2 rebounds on her way to earning All-NEC Second Team accolades. The Dolphins have added a pair of freshmen guards to the roster for 2026-27.

The Wildcats went 25-11 overall and 8-8 in the SEC last year before advancing to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament as a fifth seed. Under third-year head coach Kenny Brooks, the Wildcats return four players, including leading scorer and rebounder (and Buffalo native) Clara Strack, who was named to the USA Today All-America Second Team and All-America Honorable Mention by the Associated Press and USBWA, and fifth-leading scorer Asia Boone (10.1 ppg, 2.3 apg), while adding four transfers, three freshmen and an international recruit.

The team's complete non-conference schedule will be announced in the coming weeks.
