///// ATHLETICS WEIGHT ROOM ///// In the fall of 2011, the Le Moyne College Athletics Department officially opened the Atheltics Weight Room, a state-of-the-art strength and conditioning facility features the latest training equipment designed specifically for the needs of today’s student-athletes.
Located in the east side of the Henninger Athletic Center, the new weight room is a 2,100 square foot facility that features floor to ceiling windows looking out on Ted Grant Court, a dynamic wall mural of Le Moyne student-athletes, wall-to-wall mirrors, a flat screen television and a high-end sound system. Additionally, a wide range of Magnum fitness equipment compliments free weights, dumbbell racks and other training equipment.
“Aside from the obvious benefits of specific and dedicated training opportunities for our athletes, this facility provides a significant relief to the campus recreation fitness room,” said Athletic Director Matt Bassett. “Up until now, our athletes were impacting that space at high volume periods of the day. With the development of this athletic weight room, the general students, faculty, and staff will have a much better recreation and wellness experience when visiting our campus fitness center.”
With the renovation of the weight room in the Recreation Center reflective of the needs of the general student-body two years ago, there became a glaring need to meet for the evolving needs of the modern student-athlete. With the support of former student-athletes, including the 1985-86 men’s lacrosse team, the facility became a reality.
Bassett added, “We worked closely with a group of alumni that was representing the first-ever men’s lacrosse team here at Le Moyne. The 'Founding Fathers' wanted to do something very special, something that benefited the priorities of the athletic department.”
