Robbie Spagnola joined the Le Moyne coaching staff in August of 2023 following two seasons as an assistant coach at Marshall University.
Prior to Marshall, Spagnola spent time as an assistant coach at Manhattan College.
During his first season on the Heights in 2024, Spagnola helped the Dolphins compiled a 15-17 conference record during the program’s return to Division I and its inaugural season in the Northeast Conference.
In part of his role as an assistant coach at Le Moyne, Spagnola develops plans for hitters in their offseason training. The Dolphins posted an improvement at the plate in 2025, recording a .287 team batting average during conference play, compared to .265 in 2024.
Le Moyne also recorded a .976 team fielding percentage during conference play in 2025, which ranked second in the NEC.
In year two of Le Moyne’s transition to Division I in 2025, the Dolphins compiled a 17-13 conference record, finishing fifth out of 11 teams in the Northeast Conference standings.
Sophomore catcher Cooper Romich was named to the 2025 All-NEC Second Team after recording a .333 batting average and a .449 on-base percentage in 25 conference games played.
At Marshall, Spagnola served as infield coach and assisted with hitters’ daily plans. The Thundering Herd posted a .965 fielding percentage in 2022, and increased their fielding percentage to .967 in 2023. At the plate, Spagnola helped Marshall improve its team batting average from .238 in 2021 to .270 in 2022.
During Spagnola’s second season with the Thundering Herd, Marshall infielder/catcher Owen Ayers recorded the most doubles in a single season in program history in 2023 and was subsequently taken in the 19th round of the 2024 MLB Draft by the Chicago Cubs.
Spagnola played collegiately as an infielder and pitcher at Hudson Valley Community College, making an appearance in the 2018 NJCAA Region 3 Tournament with the Vikings.
Spagnola went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Kentucky in 2021.
During his time in Lexington, Spagnola served as an Equipment Manager for the University of Kentucky baseball team, assisting with the analytics team, generating scouting reports, hitting ground balls, throwing batting practice and setting up equipment, among other duties.
Spagnola, a native of Amsterdam, New York, served as an assistant coach for the Amsterdam Mohawks of the Perfect Game Collegiate Baseball League in the summers of 2019-21. With the Mohawks, Spagnola coached third base, assisted with offensive strategy, in-game defensive positioning, scouting reports and lineup adjustments. The Mohawks claimed the 2019 PGCBL Championship, and were ranked nationally as high as seventh.
With the Mohawks, Spagnola coached nine players who were either taken in the MLB Draft or signed a free agent deal with an MLB club, including Matt Shaw, who was drafted in the first round of the 2023 MLB Draft after a standout career at Maryland.
