2024: Freshman - In his first season with the Dolphins, Purvis saw himself earn two top-25 finishes. He started the season running in the 6k at the Frank Dillon Memorial Invitational (Sept. 2), finishing 16th overall in a time of 21:51.0. The following three meets, Mike would compete in the eight-kilometer course. At the 2023 Yellowjacket XC Invitational (Sept. 16), he ran the 8k in 29:17.0. At the Lehigh Paul Short Run (Sept. 30) he ran the 8k in 28:36.7. The meet before his first Northeast Conference Championship, he ran a personal best 26:11.8 in the 8k at the Canisius Alumni Classic (Oct. 14) and placed 29th overall. At the NEC Championships, he competed in the 8k running a time of 28:27.7 and finishing 51st overall. The 'Phins ended their season the following weekend as they competed in the Saint Francis University Red Flash Rally (Nov. 5). Purvis was back to the six-kilometer course, where he set another personal best with a time of 21:11.8.
