Matlock is in his third season as an assistant coach with the Dolphin softball program.
He is also the head coach of the Rhode Island Thunder-UNY travel organization based in Syracuse. We was previously the head coach for the UNY Revolution 18U Gold team based out of Rochester. He has coached in the UNY Revolution organization since 2013 and prior to that spent three years coaching locally in the Central Square Red Storm travel ball organization.
Matlock served as a volunteer assistant coach in the baseball program in 1997 and with Onondaga Community College in 1996.
Matlock is an alum of the Le Moyne College baseball team, playing from 1990-1993. During his tenure wearing the green and gold, the Dolphins compiled an overall record of 107-42, going 54-10 in conference play, while winning the MAAC North championship each year and advancing the ECAC tournament. During Matlock's senior year, the team achieved the highest winning percentage (0.850) in all of division 1 going 34-6. Matlock started every postseason game in his career and started games throughout his career at six different defensive positions.
Matlock graduated from Le Moyne College in December 1993 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
