Susan Kim, a respected leader within Northeast Division I women's volleyball circles, was named head coach at Le Moyne on July 3, 2023.

Most recently serving as associate head coach at Rider University, Kim possesses 18 years of coaching experience, including 11 at the collegiate level.

"We are very excited to name Susan Kim as our women's volleyball head coach," said Beretta. "Susan is highly regarded within the volleyball industry for her values-based leadership style. Susan has posted an impressive record of success at all levels throughout her coaching journey. I'm confident our student-athletes will develop to their fullest potential under Susan's guidance athletically, academically and socially.

"Susan owns deep recruiting ties nationally and boasts a strong passion for developing student-athletes as leaders on and off the court. We are confident she is the perfect choice to lead our program during the transition to Division I as a member of the Northeast Conference. Her commitment to building a championship program the right way was evident during the interview process."

Kim began her tenure at Rider as an assistant coach in the summer of 2019, before being named associate head coach in Winter 2021. After one season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Georgetown University, Kim rejoined the Broncs in June of 2022. In just her second season during her initial term with Rider, the Broncs won the MAAC Championship in 2020-21, delivering Rider its first-ever title in 24 years in the league.

In 2022, the Broncs won their first two matches in the MAAC Tournament before falling in the semifinals to eventual conference champion Quinnipiac. Morgan Romano became the first Bronc to earn All-MAAC honors for the fourth time in her career.

During her time at Rider, Kim helped train players that earned multiple honors including four All-MAAC selections, three MAAC All-Rookie team selections, one American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American, one AVCA All-Northeast Region, one All-ECAC team, one ECAC Rookie of the Year, one MAAC Player of the Year, one MAAC Setter of the Year and one MAAC Rookie of the Year.

"I am honored to be named the new head coach at Le Moyne College," said Kim. "It's an exciting time at Le Moyne with the transition to Division I and I am grateful to Bob Beretta, Liza Hillegas and the entire search committee for having the faith in me to lead the program. From the initial call to the in-person visit, I knew this was a place I could call home.

"I look forward to being a part of this new journey as we join the Northeast Conference. Most importantly, I am eager to connect with the student-athletes and the Le Moyne community."

Prior to arriving in Lawrenceville, Kim served as an assistant coach at Holy Family University for six seasons. Her final season at Holy Family (2018) ranks as the most successful in program history. The Tigers captured the Central Athletic Collegiate Conference (CACC) championship and advanced to the NCAA Division II Sweet Sixteen that year.

During the memorable campaign, she coached and trained an AVCA All-American, AVCA East Region Player of the Year, D2CCA East Region Player of the Year and CACC Player of the Year. She also mentored the 2018 CACC Rookie of the Year and the 2018 CACC Setter of the Year.

Kim helped to develop four All-Conference players, three Conference All-Tournament Team players, and three All-Region Tournament team players during her tenure at Holy Family. The team was also recognized for its academic prowess as a Top-25 program in grade point average by AVCA, posting team marks of 3.66 in 2016-17 and 3.69 the following year.

Kim also served as an assistant coach at La Salle University in 2013 and added interim head coaching responsibilities at the conclusion of the campaign. She was responsible for planning and leading technical training sessions, while assisting with the planning and running of team practices, among her duties. Kim also introduced and implemented statistical analyses of team practices and matches as well as tracked statistical data in all aspects of the game.

In addition to her time spent on the collegiate level, Kim owns nearly a decade of coaching and playing experience. She is the Founder and served as Co-Director of Infinity Volleyball Academy, which was founded in 2008. In that role, she was responsible for multiple aspects of managing daily operations and the growth of the youth-oriented volleyball program.

Kim previously coached at Council Rock North High School as the head coach for the boys' volleyball team from 2011-12. While at Council Rock, the team won the Suburban One League (SOL) National Conference Championship and District 1 AAA Championship and was ranked in the Top-10 of the Pennsylvania Volleyball Coaches Association (PVCA) state poll. The team advanced to the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association (PIAA) State Championships in 2011 with an undefeated 12-0 conference record and 16-1 overall record.

Prior to that, she served as the head coach of the Archbishop Wood High School girls' team from 2006 to 2011. During her tenure, the team finished 79-23 (.775) and won the Philadelphia Catholic League (PCL) Division Championships (2006, 2007, and 2008), two PCL Championships (2008, 2010), and two District 12 Championships (2008, 2010). The team advanced to the PIAA State Championship playoffs in 2008 and 2010. She received Bucks County Courier Times Coach of the Year in 2007 and 2008.

Kim played four years for the Bloomsburg University women's volleyball club and served as the team's co-captain. She earned All-Tournament team honors in the Northeast Women's Volleyball Club League Championship.

She currently remains involved with the Garden Empire Volleyball Association (GEVA) Regional Team Development Program as a Head Coach, lead positional tryout evaluator and court coach.

Kim earned her Bachelor's Degree from Bloomsburg in Computer and Information Systems with a minor in Economics. She becomes the eighth head coach in the history of the Le Moyne volleyball program, and the first person of Asian descent to lead an intercollegiate athletics program at Le Moyne.

Her selfless nature and care for others comes through in the relationships she has with everyone. Besides that, her technical and tactical acumen for the game are top-notch.
