Tim Fenton joined the Le Moyne College Athletic Department in August of 2007 and currently serves in the role of Deputy Athletic Director. During his tenure at Le Moyne, Fenton has provided direct administrative oversight support to all 21 of Le Moyne’s intercollegiate athletics programs. He has been responsible for the development, implementation and forecasting of the department’s operational and athletic merit budgets. Fenton has played an integral role in the development and advancement of the department’s internationally-recognized “Inside the L” culture. He also has been involved with strategic planning and with the implementation of strategic initiatives which include; the development of a comprehensive NCAA Division II compliance program, the growth of external revenues through oversight of the department’s external rental program, including sports camps held at Le Moyne, an enhanced athletic scholarship model, the department’s staffing plan, oversight of the College’s licensing program, Title IX compliance, EADA reporting and numerous athletic facilities capital projects. Fenton has also led and coordinated the department’s last two NCAA Division II ISSG mandated reports along with the ISSG Plans for Improvement implementation.
During the 2019-20 and 2020-21 academic years, Fenton served as the College’s Interim Athletic Director, which was highlighted by the hiring of two head coaches (women’s lacrosse and softball), the renovation of the Recreation Center Lobby/Offices, the turf replacement/facility upgrades of Ted Grant Field, the expansion of the Gold Wave Hall of Fame to include the Le Moyne Legacy feature and an Alumni Spotlight section, the installation of an enclosed/turfed outdoor batting cages and state of the art scoreboard at Dick Rockwell Field, the installation of an enclosed/turfed outdoor batting cages at the Softball Field Complex, six NCAA Championship berths, seven NE10 Regular season/tournament championships, three NE10 Coach of the Year honors, three NE10 Player of the Year honors, and a College best third-place finish in the 2020-21 NE10 President’s Cup Standing while leading the conference in both regular season/post season championships (six). In addition, the department continued to advance and deepen its “Inside the L” culture by leaning on its core values while navigating through a global pandemic and social unrest. The department also enhanced partnerships with BSN/Nike, which resulted in a 50% revenue increase for the department and provided revenue generation opportunities for all 21 programs through online team store sales. The department also shattered its previous “Giving Day” totals in the Spring of 2021 when it received 1,075 donations, which generated $127,787.00 in support of our student-athletes and their experiences. Most importantly, Le Moyne student-athletes continued to excel academically culminating with a record high student-athlete cohort cumulative GPA of 3.336, and 285 (79%) NE10 Honor Roll selections, which recognizes student-athletes who achieved a term GPA of 3.0 or greater.
Fenton has represented Le Moyne on both the NE10 Committee for Sports Administration and the NE10 Athletic Council. He has served the NCAA as a member of the Division II East Region Advisory Committee for both men’s soccer and women’s lacrosse. He has also served as a member of numerous department and campus committees which have included; head coach search committees, the College’s retention committee, the College’s athletic discernment committee and the College’s COVID-19 testing support staff.
Prior to joining Le Moyne, Fenton spent nine years at Binghamton University. From 2005 to 2007, he was the Associate Director of Intercollegiate Athletics and provided direct leadership and oversight to the department’s NCAA Compliance program and Internal Operations area. From 2001 to 2005, Fenton was the Assistant Director of Intercollegiate Athletics for NCAA Compliance. Prior to transitioning to athletic administration, Fenton began his career at Binghamton as an Assistant Baseball Coach from 1998-2001.
A graduate of Mansfield University in 1992, Fenton graduated with a B.A. in Criminal Justice Administration. A member of the Mansfield University Athletic Hall of Fame, Fenton led Mansfield to an appearance in the 1992 NCAA Division II Baseball Championship game, becoming Mansfield’s first-ever First Team GTE Academic All-American, as well as earning Third Team Division II All-American honors his senior season.
