STATESBORO, Ga. – Senior shortstop Michael Affronti (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack) went 4-for-5 with five runs batted in and junior centerfielder Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) went 4-for-5 with two RBI as Le Moyne pounded out 15 hits in a 14-5 win over UNC Asheville. The Dolphins (3-4) have won their first two games at the GSU Invitational.
Affronti enters Sunday's 11 a.m. game against Michigan as the team's leading hitter with a .433 batting average. He tripled and doubled in the victory. Classmate and former Commack high school teammate Keith Connors (Jamesport, N.Y./Commack) went 2-for-3 with his second home run of the spring. He is hitting .423 in seven games this season. Leadoff hitter Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) had two hits in four at-bats to move his batting average to .400.
Junior righty Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) earned his first win of the season on the mound. Blevins (1-1) struck out three, walked three and allowed six hits over six and 1/3 innings. Freshman Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y./Troy) fanned four over the final two and 2/3 innings.
Le Moyne edged Georgia Southern, the tournament host team, 6-4 on Friday night.
