FAIRFIELD, Conn. - Freshman Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) scored six goals and assisted on another as Le Moyne doubled up Fairfield 20-10 in a women's lacrosse game at Alumni Field. The Dolphins (6-2, 2-0 MAAC) have won six of their last seven games, including both league tilts.
McCarthy, who is tied for the team lead with 16 goals this season, scored three times in each half for Le Moyne. Sophomore Kylie Rosette (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) and Emily Donnells (Penn Yan, N.Y./Penn Yan) scored three goals each, while Leah Mazella (Syracuse, N.Y./Henninger), Liz Hewitt (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) and Lauren Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) scored two times each to join McCarthy with multiple goals.
After Fairfield jumped out to a 2-0 score in the first 4:29 of the game, the Dolphins scored nine of the next ten goals to deliver a 9-3 halftime edge. Rosette netted the Dolphins' first two goals, while Donnels and McCarthy combined for five of the next seven Dolphin goals. Le Moyne scored nine of the first 12 goals in the second half to jump out to their biggest lead of the game on Hewitt's second goal with 11:00 minutes remaining in the contest to make it 18-6. Hewitt and Mazella scored two goals each and assisted on another in the second half.
Le Moyne travels to Marist for a 1 p.m. game Sunday.
