BASEBALL SWEEPS IONA IN MAAC DOUBLEHEADER, 22-6, 9-5

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. - Junior T.J. Sheridan (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) struck out 10 in the second game and classmate Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) fanned nine in the opener as Le Moyne swept a MAAC baseball twinbill at Iona 22-6, 9-5.  The Dolphins (11-8, 3-2 MAAC) and Gaels (2-20, 0-5 MAAC) will complete their three-game series on Sunday at noon.

In the opener, Le Moyne hopped out to a 12-0 lead over the first six innings en route to the 22-6 win. Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Finger Lakes CC) drove in four runs and Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport), Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) and Robby Perez (Miami, Fla./Belen Jesuit) knocked in three each. Perez singled home two runs in the first, Gaal singled home two in the sixth, St. Amant connected for a two-run home run in the sixth and Crawford belted a three-run home run, his first of the season, in the eighth.

Junior righty Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) struck out nine and allowed just four runs (three earned) in eight innings to pick up his fourth win of the season.

In the second game, sophomore second baseman Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) went 3-for-5 with three runs batted in. He went 5-for-9 in the doubleheader to push his batting average to a team-best .405 (32-for-79). Parrino helped key Le Moyne's four-run fourth inning with a two-run single.

Sheridan, the reigning co-MAAC Pitcher of the Week, struck out 10, walked three and allowed three runs on six hits in six innings of action. Junior Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) got the final two outs for his first save of the season.
