ST. BONAVENTURE SCORES FINAL TWO GOALS TO HOLD OFF WOMEN'S LACROSSE, 14-12, BONNIES REMAIN ONLY UNBEATEN IN DIVISION I WOMEN'S LACROSSE, DOLPHINS STREAK ENDS AT SEVEN STRAIGHT

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Courtney Gibbons scored five goals to lead St. Bonaventure to a 14-12 women's lacrosse win over Le Moyne in a non-conference game at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The Bonnies (10-0) scored the game's final two goals to remain the nation's lone unbeaten Division I women's lacrosse team, while Le Moyne's (10-3) program-record winning streak ends at seven straight.

After Le Moyne senior captain Liz Hewitt (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) tied the game at 12 with 7:54 remaining, St. Bonaventure scored the next two goals to secure its 10th win of the season. Freshman Katelyn Faas broke the tie with her second goal of the game at the 5:39 mark and after holding the ball for over two minutes, Nicole Motondo added an insurance goal with 1:54 remaining.

The visiting Bonnies and host Dolphins entered the game with two of the nation's longest winning streaks. Only Denver (11) and Richmond (10) carried longer winning streaks at the NCAA Division I level than St. Bonaventure and Le Moyne.

In the opening half, the two teams traded scoring spurts. Katie Hurley scored three times as St. Bonaventure jumped out to a 6-2 lead. Le Moyne netted four of the half's final five goals to pull within a goal at 7-6 at the intermission. Freshman Michelle Lissner's (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) two goals keyed the Le Moyne run which came over the final 10 minutes of the opening session.

Gibbons barreled out of the intermission with a pair of unassisted goals that delivered the visitors a 9-6 edge. Amanda Keegan sandwiched two goals around a Whitney Vecchio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) score as Le Moyne rattled off three consecutive goals to tie the contest at nine.

The two teams traded leads midway through the second half. After Faas returned the lead to the Bonnies with an unassisted score at the 19:04 mark, Kylie Rosette (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) scored one goal and set up Vecchio for another as the Dolphins took their first lead at 11-10 with 13:17 left. Gibbons and Brenna Houghton scored to return the lead to St. Bonaventure, 12-11 with 9:42 remaining.

Hewitt converted a feed from Vecchio with just under eight minutes remaining to tie the contest for the fourth time, but Faas and Motondo accounted for the final two goals as St. Bonaventure continued its unblemished season.

Falcone made six of her nine saves in the opening half for Le Moyne. St. Bonaventure's 14 goals were the most allowed by the Dolphins this season and just the second time Le Moyne has allowed more than 10 goals.

Vecchio led Le Moyne with five points on three goals and two assists. She has posted a program single-season record 28 assists this season. Keegan, who leads the Dolphins with 32 goals, also scored three times.

After playing four games in a stretch of five days, Le Moyne is off until Saturday. The Dolphins host Long Island University at noon on April 15. That game will be televised live throughout Central and Northern New York on Time Warner Sports Channel 26.
