BASEBALL SWEEPS TWINBILL AT SIENA, 3-2 AND 7-3

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior T.J. Sheridan (Syracuse, N.Y./CBA) had another strong start in the opener and Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) allowed just one earned run in the second game as Le Moyne swept a MAAC baseball doubleheader at Siena 3-2, 7-3. The Dolphins (17-10, 7-4 MAAC) will close out their weekend series at Siena (10-20-1, 5-6) on Sunday at 11 a.m.

In the opener, sophomore leadoff hitter Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) and classmate Robby Perez (Miami, Fla./Westminster) had three hits each as the Dolphins outhit their hosts 11-5.

Le Moyne scored its leadoff batter in the third and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead. Jamie Rose (Hornell, N.Y./Hornell) reached on an outfield error to start the third and scored on Michael Affronti's (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack) two-out single. Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Finger Lakes CC) walked to start the fourth and scored on a Phil St. Amant (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) groundout.

Parrino singled and scored on a wild pitch for the final Le Moyne run in the top of the seventh. Siena staged a two-out rally to score its two runs in the bottom of the eighth.

Sheridan, who pitched a seven-inning no-hitter in a 1-0 win over Manhattan his last time out, struck out nine and allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits over seven and 2/3 innings. He is 4-0 on the season with a league-best 1.67 ERA.

In the nightcap, Blevins (5-2) struck out four and allowed three runs (one earned) in picking up the complete game win. Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy), Brian Hansen (Endicott, N.Y./Chenango Valley) and Matt Nandin (North Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) homered to account for the seven Le Moyne runs. Gaal and Nandin's round-trippers were three-run home runs, while Hansen belted a solo homer.
