CONNORS HOMERS TWICE, BASEBALL DOWNS ALBANY 7-5 FOR 11TH WIN IN 14 GAMES

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior first baseman Keith Connors (Jamesport, N.Y./Commack) homered twice and scored three runs to lead Le Moyne to a 7-5 win over Albany in a non-conference baseball game at Dick Rockwell Field. The Dolphins (18-11) have won 11 of their last 14 games, while Albany drops 8-21.

Connors belted two of Le Moyne's four home runs. His two-run home run in the fourth gave the Dolphins a 5-4 lead that they would not relinquish. Senior Michael Affronti (Dix Hills, N.Y./Commack) and sophomore Andy Parrino (Brockport, N.Y./Brockport) also homered for Le Moyne. Affronti went 3-for-5 with two doubles and one round-tripper.

Albany opened up a 4-0 lead in the top of the first. Leo Corvino doubled home the first run and Chris Wood highlighted the inning with a two-run home run to right.

Parrino started Le Moyne's comeback with a solo home run, his third of the season, in the bottom of the first. The Dolphins pulled to within 4-3 in the third. Connors and sophomore Stephen Crawford (Webster, N.Y./Finger Lakes CC) singled and scored runs.

With two outs in fourth inning, sophomore Jamie Rose (Hornell, N.Y./Hornell) legged out an infield single to third and Connors lined a 2-1 pitch over the wall in left-center to give Le Moyne a 5-4 lead. Affronti lifted a long fly over the left field wall in the fifth to make it 6-4.

Albany scored its final run on Tom Hill's solo home run in the seventh. Connors capped the scoring with his second home run of the game and sixth of the season in the bottom of the eighth.

Le Moyne freshman starter Eric Beaulac (Troy, N.Y./Troy) allowed four runs on five hits in three and 1/3 innings. Senior righty Ryan Toth (Massena, N.Y./Massena) came on with one out and the bases loaded and the Dolphins trailing 4-3 in the top of the fourth. He induced a double-play ball to No. 3 hitter Leo Corvino to escape trouble in the inning. Toth (2-0) did not allow a hit or a run over the next two innings. Junior righty Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) struck out two and allowed one run for his third save. Hill's home run was the first Woods has allowed this season and just the second earned run the sidewinding righty has given up.

Le Moyne hosts Cornell in a non-conference doubleheader on Wednesday at 2 p.m.
