SOFTBALL RUNS WINNING STREAK TO FIVE STRIGHT, DOLPHINS SWEEP SAINT MICHAEL'S 10-6, 4-2

COLCHESTER, Vt. - Sophomore first baseman Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) homered in the first game and doubled home the tying runs in the second game as Le Moyne swept Saint Michael's 10-6 and 4-2 in a Northeast-10 Conference softball doubleheader at Doc Jacobs Field. The Dolphins (22-14, 14-6 Northeast-10) have won five straight games.

Sophomore Sarah Reed (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) surrendered a career-high six earned runs, but improved to 11-7 on the season with a nine-strikeout performance. Reed, Le Moyne's cleanup hitter, helped her cause at the plate where she went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Her two-run home run in the top of the first delivered the Dolphins a 2-0 lead.

Murphy and Caitlin O'Neill (Webster, N.Y./Our Lady of Mercy) also belted home runs in the opener for Le Moyne. O'Neill highlighted a 3-for-4 game with a three-run home run in the fifth.

In the second game, Le Moyne trailed Saint Michael's (14-20, 8-12 Northeast-10) 2-0 entering the top of the seventh. Reed reached on an error to lead off the inning, moved up on a Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) single and scored on Murphy's game-tying double. O'Neill doubled home Murphy for the go-ahead run and scored Le Moyne's fourth run of the seventh on Kristen DesLauriers run-scoring base hit. Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./EFA) improved to 6-3 on the mound.

Le Moyne (22-14, 14-6 Northeast-10) remains on the road this weekend for doubleheaders at Merrimack and Bentley.
