T.J. SHERIDAN NO-HITS MANHATTAN, BASEBALL SPLITS WITH JASPERS

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior southpaw T.J. Sheridan (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) pitched Le Moyne's first MAAC no-hitter in nearly 13 years as the Dolphins achieved a doubleheader split with Manhattan in a league twinbill at Dick Rockwell Field. Sheridan struck out seven and walked three in the 1-0 win, while Manhattan's (12-11, 6-2 MAAC) Chris Cody one-hit the Dolphins (13-9, 5-3 MAAC) in a 2-1 opening game win.

Sheridan fanned struck out seven and walked three on a 109-pitch effort in which he did not allow a runner past first base. He improved to 3-0 on the season and lowered his team-best earned run average to 1.89. Sheridan faced one batter over the minimum for the seven-inning game. His fifth-inning and sixth-inning walks were eliminated from the basepaths via a double-play ball and a pick-off.

Le Moyne took advantage of a leadoff walk to score the only run of the nightcap. Senior 1B Keith Connors (Jamesport, N.Y./Commack) drew a leadoff walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice and following an intentional walk moved up to third on a fielder's choice. With runners at the corners, Connors scored the winning run on a two-out wild pitch.

Sheridan's no-hitter was Le Moyne's third individual gem since the Dolphins became a Division I program in 1989. The last league no-hitter for the Dolphins was pitched by Scott Moody on April 14, 1993 against Siena. Current senior Ryan Toth (Massena, N.Y./Massena) pitched Le Moyne's last no-hitter in a 6-0 win over Cornell on May 4, 2005.

In the opening game, Cody limited Le Moyne to just one hit. He fanned 10 for his fifth win of the season. After administering a one-out walk in the first, Cody retired 16 batters in a row. Nick Derba drew a leadoff walk, Matt Rizzotti and Mike Garcia followed up with singles to help plate Manhattan's two runs in the top of the fourth inning.

Junior Bobby Blevins (Briarcliff, N.Y./Briarcliff) was the tough-luck loser on the mound for Le Moyne. He fanned seven and allowed just four hits and one earned run in seven innings.

Le Moyne and Manhattan will square off in the final game of the MAAC series on Sunday at noon.
