MARCOUX DRIVES IN WINNING RUNS IN NINTH, MANHATTAN SCORES 4-2 WIN OVER BASEBALL TO TAKE MAAC SERIES FROM DOLPHINS

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Sophomore Ryan Marcoux (New Milford, Conn./New Milford) singled home the go-ahead runs in the top of the ninth to lift Manhattan past Le Moyne 4-2 in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference game at Dick Rockwell Field. The Jaspers (13-11, 7-2 MAAC) took two of three from Le Moyne (13-9, 5-4 MAAC) in the conference series to remain atop the league standings.

Marcoux's base hit capped a Manhattan comeback over the final two innings. The Jaspers trailed 2-1 in the top of the eighth, but took advantage of a walk and a hit batsman to squeeze home the tying run. Junior Rene Ruiz (Miami, Fla./Fla. Gulf Coast) tapped a bunt toward first that scored pinch runner Jourdain Dutton (Pikesville, Md./Boys' Latin) to tie it at two. With two out and runners at second and third in the ninth, Marcoux knocked in the go-ahead runs on a 3-2 pitch from Le Moyne senior lefty A.J. Lindsey (Vestal, N.Y./Vestal).

Manhattan junior righthander  Jesse Darcy (Levittown, N.Y./Division) struck out eight, including the first two batters in the bottom of the ninth, to even his mark at 2-2. He allowed just six hits, two runs (one earned) and walked two. Manhattan's pitching staff limited Le Moyne to nine hits in three games. The Dolphins came into the series hitting .301, but slumped to a .114 (9-for-79) in the chilly weekend series.

Junior centerfielder Ben Gaal (Manlius, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) singled and scored Le Moyne's first run in the bottom of the fourth. In the fifth, senior first baseman Keith Connors (Jamesport, N.Y./Commack) delivered the Dolphins a 2-1 lead with his fourth home run of the season.

Le Moyne starter Michael Falasca (Sicklerville, N.J./Gloucester Catholic) produced his second consecutive terrific start. The reigning MAAC Pitcher of the Week fanned nine and allowed just one run on five hits over the first six and 2/3 innings. Junior righty Ryan Woods (Jacksonville, Fla./Englewood) suffered the loss. Woods (1-2) allowed his first earned run in 12 appearances this season.

The Dolphins held Manhattan to only 11 hits (11-for-83, .133) and six runs for the weekend, but came up short in two of the three games. Le Moyne's win in the three-game series came in T.J. Sheridan's (Syracuse, N.Y./Christian Brothers Academy) seven-inning 1-0 no-hitter in Saturday's second game.

Le Moyne travels to Ithaca for a doubleheader with Cornell on Tuesday.
