SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Junior Amanda Keegan (Marcellus, N.Y./Marcellus) and freshman Lisa McCarthy (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) scored three goals each to lead Le Moyne to a 10-6 win over Manhattan in a MAAC women's lacrosse game at the Niland Athletic Complex. The Dolphins (8-2, 4-0 MAAC) have won five straight and eight of their last nine.
Keegan scored two goals as Le Moyne jumped out to a 4-3 lead in the opening half. Manhattan knotted the score at four on a Jenny Carman goal just over three minutes into the second half, but Keegan returned the lead to the Dolphins one minute and 23 seconds later. Keegan's third goal of the game, her team-high 21st of the season, gave Le Moyne the 5-4 lead, one the Dolphins would not relinquish.
Sophomore Whitney Vecchio (Watertown, N.Y./General Brown) and junior Lauren Byrne (Syracuse, N.Y./Bishop Ludden) netted back-to-back goals to land Le Moyne a 7-4 lead with 14:53 remaining. An Alicia Psillos goal pulled Manhattan back within two goals, but Meghan Burgoon (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) and McCarthy scored to move Le Moyne's edge back to four goals. Psillos and McCarthy traded goals in the final minute to close out the scoring.
Sophomore Samantha Falcone (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) made eight saves for her eighth win of the season. Manhattan's Ashley Devins stopped eight shots in the setback.
In four league contests this season, the Dolphins have outscored their opponents 55-33. Le Moyne hosts Iona in another MAAC game on Sunday at noon.
