SOFTBALL SHUTS OUT SAINT ANSELM, 8-0

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - Senior centerfielder Lindsay Spaziani (Horseheads, N.Y./Horseheads) went 3-for-4 to lead Le Moyne to an 8-0 win in five innings over Saint Anselm in Northeast-10 Conference softball action at the Thomas J. Niland Athletic Complex. The win pushes the Dolphins over the .500 mark for the first time this season to 10-9 and 3-0 in the Northeast-10. The Hawks fall to 4-13, 1-2 in the Northeast-10.

Kortney Meadows (Orchard Park, N.Y./Orchard Park) blasted her second home run of the season over the fence in center to lead off the third and get the Dolphins on the board.

The Dolphins erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to deliver the 8-0 final score. Meadows reached on an error to lead off the inning, Spaziani doubled to right center, and Lyndsey Balinskas (Edison, N.J./Edison) singled up the middle to plate the first run. Sarah Reed (DeWitt, N.Y./Jamesville-DeWitt) followed with a single to score Spaziani. Kristen DesLauriers (Liverpool, N.Y./Liverpool) reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Emma Murphy (East Syracuse, N.Y./East Syracuse-Minoa) singled through the left side to score Balinskas and Reed and give the Dolphins a 5-0 lead. With the bases loaded again after a walk by Jennifer Farrelly (Latham, N.Y./Shaker), Kelly Schweikert (Rochester, N.Y./Spencerport) singled up the middle to drive in DesLauriers from third. After a sacrifice fly by Bailey Phillips (Rochester, N.Y./Greece-Arcadia) and a groundout by Meadows to advance the runners, Spaziani ended the game with her second double of the inning to score Farrelly.

Senior southpaw Martha Senko (Pine City, N.Y./Elmira Free Academy) recorded her third win of the season by pitching a two-hit shutout with three strikeouts and no walks.

Game two of the scheduled doubleheader was rained out and will be made up on a date yet to be determined. The Dolphins return to action Thursday at Southern Connecticut State. First pitch of the doubleheader is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
